Yep, superpole helps too. Plus it raises you a bit and moves you back from the tank a tad too. But it can squash a testi or two.
I'm trying not to spend too much on this bike as paying for a house build currently Richie Rich. I did put Termi's on my 1098s and they helped yet I'm kind of liking the standard cans at the moment...
Nelson, thanks for the supplies, arrived just now sir, i'll fit it and post at the w/e. Thanks again! Cornish
Bootsam, LOL, my local guys are 'whatever' so i may try that then. Keen to see how the wrap and reflector materials work first though. How much for a std set of cans does everyone think? I know the 1098 cans are transferable from memory, i may have a look on fleebay then
OK prices are dirt cheap on fleeybay so might go for it... A question though, if I get the CAT filling removed, will i need to have the ECU remapped?
std 1098 cans are the same, avoid the black ones (IMHO) as they mark really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really easily! There's loads on one of the yank sites regarding gutting the standard cans. From what I read, there's no point in removing the cats and be careful how much gutting you do as the the end result may pass an MOT, but the noise gets old fast! When i replaced the undertray on my 1098R with a carbon fibre item (never again), i fitted the TPO heat-shield kit, which i stuck down with a heat-proof contact adhesive. Underseat Heat Insulation Then over the top of it i stuck down some thicker self-adhesive heat-shielding material i got off eBay for a few quid from a motorsports shop. I cut-out the general shape of the TPO kit, and then sliced the thicker stuff into smaller pieces so it would take to the shape of the undertray a little better. The result? No cooked love-spuds........even with the 70mm Akra system toasting away, my joy-department remains thankfully intact and cool as a cucumber, sort of. Took a while to do, but boy oh boy was it worth it! Pictures enclosed of the work partially done.
Argonaut, that's exactly what i was thinking of...thanks for the photos. Glad the 'spuds' are cool as a cucumber too
Well I've fitted the silver backed tape and will head out this afternoon to experience the difference, i hope!
Ive bought some of the silver heat stuff for mine too. Going to do under shield and seat too. Plus some on that heat shield on zorst. Along with heat wrap. This should help riding n >30degC better.
