  1. I'm thinking I used to own a complete bike, but at the moment it's more like various annoying parts.

  5. So.......................what was discovered?

  6. well ........
    seems the engine is ............fine
but seems the front wheel bearings are well err slightly worn
infact they wondered how i rode it there

seemed fine but then i am used to 70's 2 strokes
seem to think the front wheel is the only item i have not taken off to check doh
anyway seems the spindle and nut threads are damaged beyond repair

well at least i got the engine sorted lol
and sods law i dont get paid till next week :Arghh:

  7. Great news on the engine.... Shame about the wheel bearings. If you figure out how to shit gold coin's please share.

  8. You see....if you had used my stand design for the front end you could have had the wheel out earlier.......

Have you got a spare axle, perchance........??

Bearings aren't expensive.............to buy or change

  9. al you moaned i had pinched your design for the stand :D
no i have not got a spare axle but in progress
dakk as gold coins go nearly perfected shitting mars bars lol just got to figure out the wrapper
    can do malteasers aswell :Hilarious:

  10. Well.......I hope they don't sting you for changing the wheel bearings...........it's a relatively quick and easy job, unless you have one like mine when the bearing had been turning in the hub housing and had made the housing oval in shape....

Which threads are buggered? Can only be the axle end or the top hat bush really............

  11. has a nut on the end of axle not top hat bush in forks
    threads damaged on both
    more bodgery by previous owner
i know its an easy job to do but its in their workshop not at my house
and the cost of transporting the bike back is as much as saving me a job

  12. Had to deal with a lot of bad 'maintenance' from previous owners on mine too --- I do wish some people were banned from picking up spanners..........

............and I effing hate it, when for example, six stainless screws are taken out to remove the screen, yet only four stainless get re-fitted and two rusty ms crosshead screws complete the job...........

.......how bl**dy hard is it to re-fit the proper nuts and bolts??

  13. well got my bike back today runs absolutely great
although i got totally soaked in torrential rain

seems there was a problem with cambelt tensioner bolts as well as the front spindle
when arrived to pick up find the bike back on the lift with front wheel out
seems one of the new wheel bearings was defective and were having to replace them again
so a short wait and a new front sprocket bought while there......... and on my way

well upshot .......soaking wet ride but damn good ;)

  14. also i asked terry if i got a discount if the wife flashed her tits ........
he said ok but the wife said no how inconsiderate lol

    i am a bad man :D

  15. Those tensioner bolts can be right a*seholes..........especially if they have been Loctited in..........always keep an eye on the special washers that go under the bolt heads.........after several belt adjustments their grip can go off.

  16. Is there anything I can sell you?...............I can be persuaded to give a discount...........

  17. well played around a bit with the bike this afternoon
tightened up a couple of loose nuts mainly rear indicator one
seems to have loosened with vibration so a bit of silicone sealer on the threads should cure that
also changed the front sprocket for new one and is 1 tooth down on standard
so that is meant to make it more bearable around town !
took it for a blast and yes quite a difference on round town running
as for out of town well definitly picks up quicker

oh and while sorting out decided to do a bit of decorating
thought a couple of stickers wouldnt look amiss

  18. well after a shakedown run to the super sausage and the surrounding scenic detour ahem ......
    the bike ran great
only issues i had was maybe the 14 toothed front sprocket i fitted was not suited to motorway riding
    but a roads fantastic
maybe the bike could do with another gear
but the other fault that showed up was the brake light flickering on a bit
found the brake lever jumping about on rough roads ............
turns out the lever return spring seems to be missing ....why would someone remove it god knows

but if that's all the problems to be had brilliant ;)

  19. I'm the exact opposite changed mine to a 14 tooth when I bought it and now have standard gearing which is taking some getting used to again. All good fun. Nice to see your getting some trouble free miles racked up

  20. well a quick update on the brake lever return spring
finally got round to picking one up from italia moto
thought i would look to see how it all fits in place when i got home .........
well after much head scratching and googling
found i still can not fit the spring as as i has an incorrect pin in the clevis pin fitment
which means there is nothing for the spring to push against
so a quick call to italia moto £2.50 will cure the problem
ahh another ride up the a46 lol ;)
