Or (don't) maintain them? Many years ago I had a Ford Escort company car on which the cambelt broke whilst driving it - lunched the valves etc. While it was being repaired I was using another employee's company car as he was abroad on business - the cambelt on that one broke on me too... Never did shake the reputation as wrecker of valve trains but in reality both cars had exceeded (by some margin) the service life of the belt but never been replaced...
No he maintains them, no problem there But he also loves to experiment with tuning, and who can say thats a bad thing?!
Feeling a bit more inspired after Motorcycle Live yesterday - Day off today and the girls are at work / nursery so I may have a chance to have a poke around the engines
What is the width across the top of your fairing screen opening? I have spoken to Chris @ Skidmarx but he says he cannot find one wide enough!!
Not much going on at the moment so sorry updates are slow! Christmas is taking up too much of the build fund :biggrin: Some temp rear suspension off a 848 Evo came though until the budget can stretch to some Ohlins!

Heads and Valves being cleaned up and re-cut... Finally some progress - may actually see her running this year!
get nichols locknuts for your alternator/crank nut. 135lbf for both, with locktite, then no need to check again.!! cost me £65 delivered, but worth not having to strip crankcase again.
Progress is very slow - Been a very busy half year so far so she has sat in bits! Although I did get half an hour free not so long ago to mock her up with the swingarm... (Check out my custom bench front suspension ) And then picked up the frame today after blasting so this is now ready for paint!
Some more bits have landed... Budget wont stretch to Ohlins but these should be an improvement over the original Showa's and will allow me to fit some better brakes!! Also got some lightweight cam pulleys - I might book a few days off work to start getting her put back together
I hadn't mocked it up with the ride height adjuster to be fair - A block of wood wedged between the shock and rocker kept it up In readiness of the frame being back from paint I have painted the bottom yoke and fitted some new tapered steering bearings - not as difficult to do as I was expecting after having read some horror stories! Also wanted to try on the Top yoke
