I think you're right. I'm going to make the frame from 35mm tube, it will resemble a pantah frame with the lower rails passing just below the exhaust manifolds but with a lot more bracing around the neck, I also intend having a seat subframe.
Yep, I reckon the top rails need to be big and the bracing at the headstock should be plates that are 'face' welded to the tubes and not butt welded inside the 'triangle' otherwise I can see the frame cracking where the plates end on the tubes.
Thanks for all the kind comments. I've been abusing my poor little lathe by turning a 140mm x 100mm long alloy billet into a boss for the primary drive output shaft.

My biggest problem is that I take so long to get projects done, I'd be working for about £1 an hour. The foundry I use (Harling Foundry) cast Vincent and Brough cylinder heads, plus many other types, the pattern for the Vincent head is in seven parts and open out like a terry's chocolate orange. I'm like a kid a sweet shop when I visit them. A little bit more done today.
Nick, it'll have a wet clutch. The primary case will provide a support bearing between clutch and final drive sprocket and also add structural strength for the swingarm mount.
Are you using T45 tube? If so what section - my build is using T45 14SWG which is 2.032 wall - maybe you will need 12SWG?
