Puff, you still have vent spikes on the side walls I think it's over tyred for a 6" rim looking at the info I posted earlier
Not sure about the T/c Supposedly the 200 allows you to get on the power faster out the corners ..... Makes sense
It's supposed to make you so today and stylish They keep going bigger and bigger but there must be a known optimum for road bikes otherwise they would just jump to 250's now. I think it was reached with 180's and 190's. The Bridgestone race tyre web site where I got the fitment info didn't offer a 200 section, could have been an out of date page I guess - not sure if all road derived top class race bikes use 200's.
Traction won't be right cuts in unless set traction on number 7 . Least u got bit more grip , if it bothers you defo don't put Michelin super sports on 200/55 profile so hi I think marcez would struggle to ride off the side .
Not usually in this area but went browsing....interesting thread. Very brave for posting a pic of an unworn section of a tyre on a forum - that's usually inviting a world of pain....While ive literally only got my knee down a couple of times I did successfully get my tyre to the edge on my RSV4 with supercorsa's on there, however Ive never had the "tearing" though, even after thrashing it over the mountain section last year, when the tyres were new...the one thing I noticed was even after getting to the edge the hero blobs never touched down so does that mean that my suspension is not set correctly? sorry to hijack the thread BTW...
different tyre widths equals different tyre profiles Matt D tyre wrecker pictures above are cold tear.....the tyre is overheating in a certain contact patch and the rubber boils up and shreds off.........when the tyre cools down the missing rubber that has scrubbed away leaves a crater..... as said above suspension settings, tyre pressures setting, lack of tyre warmers...or lack of warming up the tyre mixed with the extra grip of a track tarmac....
Well, I would say profile could be an issue....im not the best rider, far from it, I couldn't interpret what im feeling into and accurate description of what I think should be changed on a bike. Just put new boots on my RSV a month or so back and when I got there (the day before the MotoGP) I was supposed to be having Metzeler M7RR's fitted they were supposed to be fitting 55 profile tyres (as arranged the day before) but only had 50 there on the day so I thought, fuck it ill go with those, better have new tyres for a longish trip rather than the fucked sc's - not a bad move but I find that it doesn't or isn't as willing to go over as the old supercorsa's - so learning from my mistakes - 55 profile next time in whatever I get...
if you are going on a road trip i would stick with the knackered ones as long as they are legal....that cold tear isn't a problem.... you won't be using them to their limit on the road (unless you are a roundabout hero) all you are really going to do is create the centre bit flat and ruin the tyre .....but its ruined already why spoil a new set...subject to the distance you are travelling.. when you next go to a track id get the suspension set to you..(obviously track setting is different to the road where you could stick with the std settings) learn your suspension settings, and concentrate on the tyre pressures too.....if you dont have warmers then leave the bike out in the sun if its warm rather than in a garage.......
Well the knackered ones were knackered - the front especially - strange as its the first time ive worn through a front faster than the rear....the other driver was that as well as being knackered - SC's in the wet is plain dangerous, so, I didn't want to risk a long ride back on shagged tyres in the rain...however - id love another set - first bit of posh rubber ive bought in 20 years of bikes...
Suspension - ive had this conversation loads of times....to be short ive no idea what to set and if I set it what the net result would be....ive always left it alone....ive got no real point of reference as my other mate with a bike lives a while away and I would say he's about as clever as me with it...when I got the RSV a couple of years back the bloke said "how heavy are you" to which I told him (15st by the way) he said "yeah your about the same as me so it should be ok..." never messed with it apart from the main dial on the rear ohlins, which when I dialled it all the way one way, then the other didn't feel much different so I put it back...
what would be nice would to go out with someone (who knew a lot more about suspension than me) make changes while your out and I think then I maybe able to get a handle on it, ive read countless numbers of web pages on it but it kinda all turns into double dutch. I think, the only thing I could say was when I went from some cheap bridgestones to the expensive supercorsa's it felt "a lot nicer"...
