999 Termignoni Can

  1. To complement those :)

  2. I'm sure that I remember the original 999r 2003 had a welded can as there was a MY reference for the rebuild kit as it wouldn't fit the welded exhaust

  3. So, standard 'Termi' half system back box as fitted to my Fila R (supplied with the bike in addition to the standard system when new)...

  4. And the full 2 into 1 into 2 57mm race system fitted to my other R ...

  5. So we can definitely rule out Termis - no doubt at all about that. All Termis seem to be riveted

  6. Is that the Ti 57 mm end box?

  7. Hmm I would hold that judgement as both bikes are not early 2003 bikes as the Fila came out later in the production year. And the standard race can wasn't available at first when I had my 999s

  8. I thought you said they changed after 03/04? My Fila is number 155 and was produced in July 2003...

  9. Not sure if it's a Ti box - it was on the bike when I bought it :)

  10. It's a few years now lol, I had a brand new 999s in 2003 and my buddy had the r, and I changed the exhausts for him to the non cat system supplied with the bike, and I'm sure the open can was the same as the standard as they both used the self locking nuts that sheared off the studs as they were poorly manufactured at the time. And I had to remove the nuts to fit the open 'race' pipe...

  11. Never heard that they were but someone may come along soon who has an earlier bike, my other R is a Jan 2003 but as above, had the 57mm system on when I bought it and I also got the standard Ducati can but not the original Termi half system - wasn't bothered with it having the full Termi system :)

This is the 57mm steel box and you can see the weld discolouration on yours and the rust on mine lol..

I had the Ti end box on my previous 999 and ended up reclaiming the box on guarantee 7 times..!
At 1800 euros a shot the dealer always going nuts, make sure that the box is not fatigued around the upper main bolt bracket as that's where mine always failed. I believe a different/ modified box was released at some point to reduce flex in the body of the silencer.

  13. Just to throw a little more confusion into your plight I checked your numbers too and came up with this.

Oh and this is from the 05 year parts list.

I have an 03 999R, and the kit supplied with the 03 was nothing more then a cored stock can (making it lighter, and freer breathing) and a replacement pipe eliminating the one that contained the catalytic converter. So I suspect this can is manufactured by the same company that makes the stock cans, and is identical in every way. They are by no stretch of the imagination a Termi, but I would consider it to be superior to stock can with cat, but inferior to a half system Termi or full systems. BTW I have a cored can for sale and a complete Termi 999R 57 mm system NIB for sale. (sorry about this shameless plug).

Found the above on another forum

  17. Mmm, still just hearsay and surmising with no definite proof, maybe they have been ripped off with cored end boxes on buying second hand?

  18. Its refering to the carbon cover . Heres the one from a 2004 999R . Same number so the number riders of bridgewater are stating is the wrong one for whatever can it is .
