899 V 1199

  1. i got £2k off my 848 in 2010 and got above £3k off the 1199. No px on either as they were sold to traders.

  2. Thats prob about right the 140 quoted is crank power the 142 on dyno is rwhp

  3. It all depends where the torque is, not the max value. The 899, from the seat of my pants, doesn't make the torque that the 999 does at 4'000 - 6'000. And that is a handy place to have it when negotiating nadgery roads with lots of blind bends.

Exactly. A 900cc twin after a 600cc four is going to feel like a torque-meister.

  5. well it cant be right as a crank horse power will be greater that whats at the wheel due to all the loss of power through the gear box final drive etc etc

the numbers quoted by manufacturers will always be pie in the sky and bear no resemblance to reality...

  6. Andy he is quoting something from my post. I had quoted 140 as the official hp and couldnt understand why I only got 142 on the dyno after having a full system fitted.

  7. So your increase if it was compared that way would of been bigger than you first thought....

  8. In all honesty mate I don't know if they were quoting RWHP or Fly wheel, I don't care anymore bike went over a year ago.

  9. the thing is a dyno operator can offer up a bit of a calculation off the top of his head call in a correction factor and come up with a bigger number calling it crank hp rather than at the wheel hp.........

you could of course just be sent a supposed print out.............:upyeah:;)

  10. Yeah I suppose but because it is mechanical I would have thought the equation to work out RW back to crank & vice versa should be pretty spot on.

  11. i only need a 899, but i want a 1199!

  13. No point buying and regretting it.

  14. pre reg is still new never been used , doesn't bother me if it says 1 previous owner, and makes no difference when u p/x whatsoever ,, the salesman opens his book and gives you bottom,

  15. last sports bike i had was a gixer 600.

i prefer the torque of a v twin. must get to have go on a pani

  16. Exactly most and nearly all bike rolling road figures are rear wheel power and the figures released by the manufacturer are crank power so his 848 at 140hp crank would be around126 rwhp so he got 16hp from system and remapwhich is a pretty healthy gain !

  17. of course it makes a difference to overall price wether its new and pre registered so say its a 14 platewith no moles its still older than a 15 plate brand new one side by side the 15 plate is gonna be worth more
