Seat Height - Comparison between 2014 and 2015 models The 2014 model has a standard seat height of 850 mm (33.5"), with the optional lower seat it is 825 mm (32.5"), i.e. 25 mm (1.0") lower. The 2015 model has an adjustable seat height of either 825 mm (32.5") or 845 mm (33.3"), with the optional lower seat it is 805 mm (31.7") i.e. 20 mm (0.8") lower. I've also read that the riders seat is narrower at the front and a bit longer (20 mm / 0.8"). Also the passenger seat has been lowered (no details on how much). The ground clearance on the 2015 model is increased by 20 mm (0.8") on the 2015 model, so the frame design must be quite a bit different.
I did sit on both bikes at the NEC. The lowest seat height setting was horrible. It felt like the bike was huge because i was sat so low on it. The bars and tank were too high for my liking then.
Has anyone else noticed my first impression sitting on the new Multi at NEC was the frame seems very wide where the tubes join below the seat I could feel the end of crossbrace digging in my legs. I guess a test ride needed to see if Ducati have ruined the great riding position of the 2014 biike,
My opinion on all new vehicles, which has nothing to do with it being a Ducati, is not to have an early version. Let the manufacturer sort out all the niggles, its only a matter of another six months. I like the PP but not sure its worth the extra money for mainly cosmetics, but its a Ducati so it has awesome performance and everyone likes something easy on the eye. Whatever you decide I look forward to seeing you out on it.
In this instance, that would be my opinion too. The technology of DVT is very new for bikes and there are very likely to be some issues with how it works in practice.
Does the variable thingy on the end of the camshaft know whether it is in a bike or a car ? My understanding, partly from previous threads, is that it is proven VW/Audi technology.
I dont believe they are the same system. I think Audi VVT works by differing the cam lobes whereas the DVT works by varying the valve overlap.
Its not the warranty issue that gets me its the inconvenience of getting it fixed, Saturday servicing slots are at a premium, well at Snells they are. Anything else needs time off or away from work.
I have an arrangement with my dealer, I can drop the bike of Monday night at close of business, one of the staff will drop me off home. bike gets sorted during the week whilst I am at work then normally I get a call late on a Friday to ask if I want picking up Saturday morning to pick bike up or will I make my own way down. The other service they offer is they pick the bike up Monday morning from home dedicated van and then drop it of Friday night after work F.O.C.
http://ducatiforum.co.uk/forum/threads/new-multistrada.27905/ There was some discussion of the variable valve timing system in this thread.
 Guys, Some really pertinent and sensible 'thoughts' from many of you, all of which make the decision making process even more difficult. I've forgotten what the sensation of having a brand-new bile-toy to play with was like and appreciating all that is relevant regarding new technology, warranties, waiting until the hardware, software and the like has bedded-in and Ducati decide how to resolve the undoubted 'issues' that will arise......still!!:Bag: I'm not going to opt for the used 'P-P' from Moto-Rapido, mainly due to the race exhaust + re-map (insurance) so it's either hang-on for a while, until 'proven' and then go for a newbie, or 'bite the bullet' and get in the queue for delivery in April 2015, as some others already have.:Nailbiting:
