Methylated spirit will lift the soot off. I have an MTS1200 with a full Termi and like all of them the RH rear indicator was blackened. Meths cleaned it up no problem.
Thanks for the write up regarding the exhaust , I will check mine over this weekend on my 1098s. Bike from working away this weekend so will be taking a few of the bikes out for the first blast of the year.

To fix the exhuast cover I need the following: 3 x M5 x 12 bolts 3 x SPACER 5.2X8.4X2 3 x Washers Also interesting to read that the middle section without postage would have cost £350 to buy new, €476.54 converted using 1.36 as rate of exchange.
Just for the record I've welded a good few standard and Termi systems no problem, then mirror polished them while they are off it's common that they crack, even the Akra headers crack!
I think I'll get my old middle section welded unless it works out art a silly cost, always worth having as a spare.
