  1. Looking lovely

  2. A friend has a bike with FCR41's, in Italy he left his fuel tap on and the flooding carbs filled the exhaust. Not noticing he hit the starter button and covered my Elefant and a minty F3 in a shit load of dirty fuel! It ate my paint and made a mess of the F3. I've since stripped and rebuilt the carbs to settings i found on here, maybe from Sev? They've since been fine, and the throttle response is instant, be careful on wet roads!

  3. wow! that's beautiful :Jawdrop:

I see you also have the genuine ducati performance clock cover not the rubbish fibrelyte thing that people used to do and a corbin seat.

The kit was made in the states so, if you're getting the fcr's from Chris at Cycleworks just ask him to make sure that they come with it all ready to fit. He may well go a use a modified kit from the TRX or TDM as the yamaha kits had the TPS as standard.

Ignitech will take some time to get back to you but its worth the wait. If I still had my SS, that was going to be this years project.

Did you have the bodywork and frame repainted?

bugger about the video... photobucket don't have a youtube style swf movie player but perhaps it has to download fully first - its around 80mb.

Nick, I had the same thing, the float needles had worn and I actually had my downpipes full of fuel and leaking from the joins when I pulled up on my drive. Probably the only reason it never caught alight was because of the amount of fuel flowing.

The other thing to consider would be a facet fuel pimp or similar. You can set the pump to deliver the max pressure the carbs like and also will auto shut off when the engine's not turning over. You have the cavity under the seat to use as you can't get to it without taking the seat off.

Despite all my issues - I'd have them all over again as what they give back more than outweighed the teething problems.

Also take the opportinity to upgrade starter motor leads and earth lead, again cheap but big difference upgrade. :)

  4. The Ignitech has a fuel pump output that works as per the injected bikes, i.e. primes for 3 seconds and then stops, runs constantly when the engine is running and then switches off after 3 seconds again when the engine stops.

Use this to power the fuel pump relay saves getting any special pump.

Also has a shift light function if required...

  5. Just getting ready to order some 41mm split singles from frankmxparts. And have a couple of questions.

    Anyone dealt with frankmxparts?
Any recommendations for a supplier of the malossi manifolds?
Does anyone have the part number of the malossis?

    Thanks
    Brian

  6. I've dealt with Frankmx parts, very helpful with advice and no problems at all, he even threw in a bracket FOC to fit the TPS I bought.

I got the Malossi intakes from BR special tuning, although a quick web search finds the company has gone or at least changed name & location? Contact | Motorcycle Exhausts | Performance Parts

For the split singles you need 2 rear intake manifolds, part number (from BR special tuning); VE060200402x2

  11. I've a set of these 41 animals on my 93 monster they are BRILLIANT.

  12. I can help I have 41mm banked FCRs, Sil motor slip ons and open airbox, plus ca cycleworks coils. Bike is off the road and gonna get Ignitech ignition, Hi comp pistons ( standard bore) plus a new fuel pump. Got all the parts just ready to go on.

The problem with the coils and the kukosan units is that they are old and new electronics are of course going to be better. The brief time I had the ignitech unit on the bike the ignition definately felt crisper. The coils I ahgev had on a while and can highly recommend them. They put out a higher voltage than standard so a better spark.

I have had the flooding problem, seems to be the needles not seating correctly, something to do with dirt/grit or angle of the carbs. This resulted in the cylinders filling with fuel! Easy fix though, it just needs a fuel tap or you can get an electonic fuel shutoff. If the ignitech unit has an output as discussed I will then use that.

With all the mods I am doing I will invest in rolling road setup as it will need it to run right. Easy enough to set the ignition timing with the ignitech unit as it needs an advance for the high compression pistons

  13. Apparently the guys at cycleworks supply the FCRs with the correct jetting all ready to go. The flooding stories I think come from the fact that there is no choke so you have to pupmp them a bit before starting from cold. However, I've also heard that some people simply turn the idle adjuster up for a minute or so.

  14. True, jets are ready to go but with other mods these will need doing. ( airbox and Sils will make big difference) the
Carbs do not flood cause of pumping when cold. They flooded on mine when the bike was in the garage overnight. Got hydraulic lock as the engine was full of fuel.
