Crimping is best, don't listed to Aircon all the time the crimps I'm looking at are stronger than the cable and don't fail :Wideyed: might be too expensive though
What is the crimp made of? You may need a very hot iron, flux and/or silver solder (as close to 100% as your budget will allow).

I did so, as I had one on the 998S. This pulls a lot of current when starting. The USA stuff did a great job and I liked how they had done it....but I knew it was worth the money compared to my time spent else where....:Headphone: Any how....why I'm I now a deity ? Have I managed to make a comment that has risen me above other men (or at least in my own head/thread)?
'Tin' both the cable and the connectors before you try soldering them together..........that way the cable is 'solid' inside that first 10mm or so.
The tinning is a good idea, as it allows you to identify which part isn't taking the solder (or silver). Please take note of what I said in my post about supporting the "solid" part of the cable. TOP AIRCON TIP (Patent Applied for)* Take a small piece thick cotton rag and soak in water. Using a metal crocodile clip place the wet rag around the cable, close to the joint being heated/ soldered. This will prevent that part of the cable exceeding 100°C and therefore melting. Further it stops the "solid" wire travelling too far up the cable. So long as the rag stays wet you can carry on applying the heat. Note if you haven't got very much heat (soldering iron too small) then this may prevent a proper joint forming. * This is a joke before I get a whole load of "drama queen" likes.
When I built mine I just used the gas hob to heat up the ring terminal (cable inserted). The solder was then drawn into the terminal by capillary action. Covered it with shrink tube afterwards. Result was solid.
I would have used my mini butane torch but it has died. :Banghead: Works better than a soldering iron though.
