  1. Beast of Bodmin - before she went Aqua!

With the same system as Si's. These are the old systems (Got mine at least 12years ago, then it had been stuck on the shelf for yonks).

  2. Place year bets now !!
I'll try and take some phots over the weekend of the system offa the bike, which might help .

  3. All looks the same as yours Pablo, the cans , starps and the ally clamps.

  4. SPR Monster is the one i was thinking about, it does look the same, as for sil, mine has sil motor 900 ss stamped in to it where it runs under the middle of the sump.

  5. Spike is that with end cans or is it just the header section? They have recently produce (Past 5-6years) headers which fit most high level cans. You can also get the Silmoto end cans, but I believe this is slightly different to the original 45mm full systems they used to produce.

  6. slightly off topic, I've just ordered some Gen Duke gaskets etc, only to be told that the Clutch and alternator cover no longer use a paper gasket and these are superceded by Threebond. what do you guys think ?

  7. That's right Si, don't bother with gaskets just use the threebond. The cover faces are really good so you don't need much (it only squeeses out inside the motor if you use a lot). :upyeah:

  8. +1

Most of the time the gaskets come away in one piece stuck to one case, just leave the old one attached, degrease either face and run a smear of Threebond? Amazing stuff! :)

  9. Yes, thats the headers i got from nog.
On the subject of gaskets, i agree and also use threebond, however i have a 95 monster engine that has a paper gasket between the case halves, i tried using threebond on these and found that the barrel spigots would not go in the cases as ther was not enough clearance due to the gasket missing, the clearance is that critical. Oh, and the gaskets are no longer available, a real headache. i had one gasket in stock so lucky me!
Is there anyone who makes these centre gaskets????

  10. Baines will do you a set of gaskets for the bottom end. I got a full set when I built my engine out of a NOS pair of cases. Its critical to measure the clearances for the crank and gearbox shaft endfloat, and if you just take the gasket out, then this will get messed up, unless you remove a corresponding shim thickness.

The factory clearances are notoriously sloppy, and its worth taking the time to get them set up spot on, especially for the gearbox selector drum. You have to make a special tool to measure the depths of the bearings from the case half joint though, but its not difficult.

So you bought the pipes from Nog Spike? I thought about it, but couldn't really justify the outlay at the moment... Still on my nice things to have list though!

  11. I THINK c/cycleworks make them? Do the alt.cover gasket anyways! I got a new gasket on eBay from these peeps:

  12. Found them on eBay:

DUCATI COMPLETE GASKETS MONSTER 900 ST2 SUPERSPORT 900 | eBay

No sign of the crankcase gaskets?? They only had a few left... My old crankcase gasket was in very good condition, perfect clean split so even though I had a new gasket I re-used my old one with a little Threebond, sealed perfectly!

  13. Good advice about the endfloats, the problem though is fitting the barrels as i said do not fit, they need the crank mouths opening up to accomodate the ovality caused by the missing gasket, a big job.

    Q. why do you have to measure the depth of the bearings in the case half??? you got me real puzzled? just build the thing and measure the endfloat, then take it to bits and add the shims, none of the gearbox has any preload because of the rollers. i dont even preload the cranks. just seems the long way round to me.

Baines aint got no gaskets. i really need to find at lest one.

  14. Make one? Get some gasket paper in the correct thickness from a car spares shop, LIGHT coat of water-based wallpaper paint on the case halve, hold the gasket paper flat on a window or other flat surface, carefully place the case halve on top. The paint will transfer the exact shape needed, finish marking out with a pencil, then get handy with some sharp scissors and a craft knife!

    Great success!!

  15. A man after my own heart. I once advocated that someone made their own gaskets on the Bevelheads forum. The amount of vitriole I received from some of the other members was unbelievable. There were calls of "burn the heretic" etc. mainly from certain individuals with a vested interest in selling you gaskets. I seldom buy gaskets, preferring to make them myself. I have never had a gasket I have made leak in service but I am a bit anal about cleaning the mating faces and applying a thin layer of blue Hylomar.

  16. THOSE KITS ARE GOOD , dunno about the price though , they are about £19 from ducati.

  17. Where can i get genuine ducati gasket paper?

  18. I can supply a variation on that theme... Was thinking in the garage-would be SO much easier to draw around another gasket onto the gasket paper.... Hmmmm I have a brand new OE crankcase gasket!
The plot-tomorrow I will venture downtown and obtain gasket paper in the correct grade. I will use my new gasket to make copies, and sell them on as a rare and desirable item! Should sell well alongside the case-savers! :upyeah:

  19. Et voila...
