lol .. im following your lead ... ... Ordered mine today off ebay Also ordered some bolts that can be lockwired for the exhaust shield once i get my ceramic coated header and a replacement carbon fibre exhaust shield from powerbronze and the ti exhaust wrap.. as my bolts were forever falling out due to the heat... .. Loctite did not work... blue or red... other option was get some aerotight locking nuts welded to the brackets for the existing clips... that way once i tighten down the m6 nuts ... they will lock in place...
i watch with fascination ! I removed cats thinking heat would leave quicker reducing stupid cat temps, but no.
Maning the fuck up? I have no idea what that means but if you'd have read the post you've quoted me from you'll see I do mention about manning up. Thanks for your valuable input into the thread.
i did think about manning up myself, thinking about the salt water running from the motogp boys faces, them i thought, fuck that, im not paid enough, but i paid enough for the bike and i want comfort (within reason).... wrap it is........
Ah... i have already removed the cats did that 3 months ago... that defo did not help... but sounds the business... with the rexxer map..
Better than that - I'm sending myself off to be ceramic coated next week and if that doesn't work i'll then wrap myself up in titanium heat wrap
Picture of my current exhaust heatshield ... Proper BBQ ..1k miles later .. Going on down there ... Might fit a grill ... So for all you people thinking about buying the carbon heatshields without any protection then don't .. It don't matter on brand or company supplying .. This one was foil lined .. And fitted on top of a metal heatshield ... Unless of course you like the burnt Matt rat look .. Lol .. Hence before buying carbon heatshields and huggers .. Ceramic coat those pipes and fit exhaust wrap ti titanium ...
Shit that is toast. I have the standard smaller heat shield and I have to be honest I don't think the heat is that bad.
Whoa! That really is burnt!! So my wrap turned up today. I'm so pleased I went with the titanium stuff and not the fibreglass wrap, so I didn't have to worry about soaking it first then wearing gloves and spraying it afterwards. Very easy to wrap, but 15' is almost exactly the correct length, you've got hardly any spare wrap, so don't do what I did and bugger around trying to get rid of the frayed edges and and cut loads off. I just managed to squeeze it on. The fraying was the only thing that annoyed me, hence why I have three clips at the end to try and contain it from getting worse. Oh and the clips I used seemed rubbish, i couldn't really get them to be, what I would call, tight. We'll see how it all holds up. Anyway, going to go out and fit it back on in a bit. If nothing else, it looks pretty cool :Cigar:
So the wrapped header is back on, looking good, but still cooking my ass. Hopefully my heat shield won't burn to a crisp now though
to be anal, comparisons should be done at same speeds and weather temperatures. Looks good mattm all the carbon looks good too, now why doesnt some geeza build us a carbon subframe :Wideyed:
My methods of testing are hardly scientific that's for sure. I barely get enough opportunities to ride the bike as it is, let alone trying to ensure I have consistent weather conditions when I go out :Woot: It was a pretty hot and humid day here yesterday and I deliberately sat in some traffic (which normally I would shoot straight past) to see how warm it got and it never felt uncomfortable. What would have been good is to have taken the standard bike and added all the changes at once because I think it's significantly better than it was, but each time I make a change and it makes a slight improvement I'm not really thinking I'm getting a huge benefit. Other than the comfort seat and perhaps a new heat shield (as mine is looking a little rough now) that's it for me on the quest to reduce the heat.
