1200 Exhaust Valve Eliminator

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MotoNik, Aug 14, 2015.

  1. OK so far got the cable out at the bottom, but cant see at the top under the seat or side panel where the connector is or servo motor, what do I have gto remove to find them?

Help or pics would be real helpful pls

    thanks

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Thought it was under the RH side panel, above the offending valve thingy?

  3. If you have still got this I'd be interested...

  4. I bought one and fitted it two years ago. Bought a Mivv decat when Leo Vince was down so needed this to override the electronics. Never had a problem with it. Here's a photo of it behind the regulator/rectifier behind the RH side panel. image.jpg

  5. Thats great that thanks, where is the servo and cables then? do I have to take the battery out to find the servo and remove the servo and cables ?

    Thanks

  6. No, the battery doesn't need to come out. I can't find the instructions I used, but I'm sure AndyW's resources pages have it in them? I recall loosening the sub frame to access and jiggle the servo motor and leads to the valve and connector where the Ducee plugs in. I'm far from technical and managed it without losing to much knuckle flesh.

  7. Finally got round to fitting mine on Saturday. It's quite fiddly, but I took someone else's advice and loosened off the subframe bolts, so I could swing it up. I used a breaker bar to prop it in place:

The servo is push-fitted on to two little posts and is quite tricky to wiggle out of place, so it's best to disconnect the cable on the exhaust valve first. Undo the 10mm nut, hold the valve in the closed position and unhook the cable:

There is a small self-tapping screw you have to undo before the servo comes out. It's easy to get to, you can't miss it.

The space where the servo comes from:

The eliminator device sits nicely in a little pocket behind the regulator:

    Then with the reg re-installed:

It was kind of fiddly - took me maybe an hour and a half, mostly due to faffing about trying to support the subframe, then figuring out that really it just requires a bit of force to pull the servo out. But it's easy. Bike seems ever so slightly louder (yay!), and has ever so slightly better throttle response - especially off idle, where it's not woolly any more - pulls more cleanly. Well worthwhile!

  8. Subframe loosening and pivoting it up is the key to get access to the valve.

From memory I also remember having take seat off and to loosen ABS solid lines.

  9. Yep, seats off, although I didn't touch the ABS lines. Maybe I should have?!

  10. not sure, from memory there are 2 or 3 metal cased lines running to the back (back brake and other?) and they ran accross the pivot point, but not sure...it was a long time ago.

  11. Yes there are two rigid lines held in place by a plastic cover which needs to be removed to allow the lines to move when the sub frame pivots up

  12. Is it likely I've done something nasty to my braking system? Gulp...

  13. The cover clamps the lines in place so the strain may have been felt by the cover rather than the lines. However, I'd just lift the cover and have a quick look to make sure. It's a two minute job.

  14. It was the cover that prevented me lifting the subframe assembly further. I'll take a look later. I guess worst case is a few pipes to replace...

  15. Ok I'm guna ask probs shouldn't, but why have you taken your servo off if you still have the exhaust valve fitted to your bike MotoNik?

Ho and I got a note saying happy birthday enjoy your Ducati.

  16. My understanding is the valve rests in the open position, but correct me if I'm wrong.
