I just stuck mine on with no adjustments and it was perfect. Usefully quicker throttle without being radical and on mine, it had the effect of eliminating any free play, which I really like. No waiting for the point at which it opens the throttles, it opens them immediately.
The bike already came with a straight through exhaust and power commander, complete with dyno read out for 130 bhp. Also came with 180 section rear tyre, which allegedly sharpens up the handling. I fitted lots of stainless and titanium fasteners to replace tarnished steel ones. R1 throttle as mentioned. Quiet clutch mod with open cover and stainless springs, bolts and anodised Ducati performance pressure plate. Also ended up with reduced number of plates, which unintentionally really reduced the lever pull. Black Cnc machined Chinese levers. Work better than standard and look enormously better too. New Yuasa battery, plus cable kit gives instant starting, every time... 14 tooth front sprocket for smoother low speed running and even more grunt. Discreet small black Oberon street fighter bar end mirror to fill in the centre blind spot left by the standard mirrors. Really helps with confidence when joining motorways, changing lanes etc. Osram bright white bulbs plus bright white LED in the parking light holder to act as high vis running light. LED multidirectional super bright bulb in place of standard stop/tail bulb. ExactFit cam belts. Every bit as good as oem and much cheaper. Iridium NGK plugs. Enables a bigger plug gap, which gives a fatter spark, so better starting, no fouling, better throttle response and virtually never need replacing. Various bits of carbon fibre bling.
+1 on the Titanium...I have just ordered all new titanium sprocket nuts and front/rear bolts, those things ain't cheap!
Titanium sprocket nuts will mess with the rear wheel speed sensor and give problems with engine management, I'm told Edit: I have since been corrected, it is the rotor nuts that need to be steel in order for the sensor to work, not the sprocket nuts!
I found that but solved it by embedding steel ball bearings in clear silicone in the cap sockets. Got the ball bearings from Halfords, they are for bicycle bottom brackets and are the smaller of the two sizes.
Ah ok, I know titanium has a trace of iron in it so... Pure titanium metal is mildy paramagnetic, +150.0x10^6 cgs units according to the web, so causes substantial MRI artifacts. It is much less magnetic than common steels, down to non-magnetic stainless alloys, but maybe with a magnet being present there it will have an effect...anyway thanks Loz for bringing that up at this time of night! My head now hurts!
Do you have titanium sprocket and rear brake disc nut/bolts, I remember reading your bikes spec and see you had titanium?
I have titanium sprocket nuts but stock rear rotor bolts due to the problem with speedo sensor with titanium bolts.
Hi Nat,did you get an answer to your question? I have a similar problem with a Magnesium rear. Do you know if the cush drive rubbers are different to those fitted to the alloy wheels as mine seem to have too much play in them?
Everytime I see these kind of posts I think it's time to get my 749R out of the lounge and back on the road. Now a baby on the way so doubt that will be getting day light anytime soon.... Wish I had the space ,and accommodating missus, to be able to park mine in the lounge...nice one mate.
The rubbers are different to the standard wheel. I'm looking at getting a set asp, I'll let you know how I get on..
I have a monster 1100S fully loaded which is a hoot to ride. Running both at the same time isn't good on the wallet. I wonder what I would get for my 749R if I have to sell it. Prices seem to be around £9500 for lightly modded bikes.
