1200 DVT Is Skyhook Necessary?

  1. I got an ex-demo base model DVT-I'm sure the DVT-S is awesome - but a couple of twiddles on the knobs adjusts mine in a few minutes and handling is great ! Extra £3.5k on fuel, tyres, beer and pies.

  2. Jeez mate, I didn't imagine that a simple instruction would appear so confusing, obviously 'turn left' means counter-clockwise -in my books there's only one way to do that, unless you'd be performing the task Friday night after the pub's closed :Hungover:
Indeed check out Figure 240 from page 331 attached, the bold is marked with 1 -and red dot, and turn left -red- until the end and the turn right -blue- each half turn for 15kg (33lbs) until you've reached your weight e.g. if you're 85kg/190lb turn three full turns 6 x 0,5 turns :)Nailbiting: ... sorry I am dying for a beer now :Inpain:)

  3. Perfect response and with pictures.
The left and right turn isn't universally understood.
From someone who's written a few hundred MMI manuals.

  4. I thought lefty loosy and righty tighty were universal to everyone. That phrase has been traversing language barriers since the first wheel needed a locking nut inventing, straight after the wheel itself was.

  5. Is this for 1200 mts as well as DVT? Good post though. How much will this throw the rear out?

  6. That's what we are describing: non DVT

  7. Cool I'll crack on with this today

  8. But would it my left or your left?........:p

I went through my menu Sunday and put the base settings on the front and rear to soft. I noticed that my rear preload is set waaaay down, to like 3.5 bars from 20 or so. Seemed nicer in all fairness. I have a tendency though to keep playing with something until I completely fook it up......:Bag:

  9. And the great thing about skyhook? Just press 'default' ;)

  10. From my experience there are lots of phrases traversing language barriers even inside the same household depending on the general mood around :Meh:.
Indeed the manual emphasises enough the importance of trying around the dumping settings until one finds the right ones for them. With more than 1500 settings on the bike that task can be challenging, but IMO the reward of having perfectly customised dumping is worth the trouble. For now I can live with using the Touring mode with power set to High and changing the preload through the presets. But as I am not 100% happy with the front fork diving too much I'll have to find time to fix this part for good. :Headphone:

  11. I have noticed the front dives loads more, loads and loads, on the dvt vs my old touring. Suspect it could be combination of not enough preload setting it in the right zone and just having it set too soft

Not done enough miles to mess with it yet

  12. Thank goodness you brought this thread back to the DVT model there Bradders! Is your DVT an S or base model? Mines a base model and few 8th turns can change the handling for the better.Just keep a record of the setting where any adjustment started from. I've dialled back in a bit more dive to keep front end 'feel' -but the Non-S Sachs kit is very adjustable.

  13. Tbh I had no idea what is was, just skyhook! Like the note above about each turn equals 15kg (think thats what it said) so may well be going to Benson with spanner in hand Sat and giving it a go

  14. Agree Bradders . So my 8th turn was a Cumbrian steak and black pudding pie

  15. Bit confused now! My 2013 Skyhook manual only goes up to page 270, so I am having trouble locating page 331 to see fig 240?

  16. Thread says 1200 DVT, but I think the setting's similar for 2013. Would you like me to download the manual and come back with a solution? Btw I am not on NZT or anything else

  20. I do, the adjustment method explained is for non DVT, pre 2015 and the thread is tagged DVT well skyhook (which is on both) . Not sure where the adjustment method came from as non DVT manuals we own don't go that high in page numbers.
