  1. 1st post in my build thread...
now please don't call me a twat again... it's not nice and your mother would not approve and what advice have I asked for yet?

thank you for the comments, I think it best my budget remains with me, it may cause yet more anguish to those who disapprove of my build thread.
But regardless I shall update here as and when...

  2. but is there a link to the build?

  3. Thank you, it won't be standard...
    :)

  4. I for one, hope that the unhelpful posts on this thread will stop. I know very little about how to go about something of this nature, and look forward to reading all about this build. I fear that nobody will bother to post their ideas or even concerns if we continue to ridicule/slag off someone for what they are doing. From personal experience I know that how something is said or written can be taken the wrong way, which leads to an unnecessary argument, and we all know what can happen then. For those who have already completed their builds, and are posting your advice on here, please keep up the good work of helping those of us who need it. And thank you for the advice I have received when I have asked for your help.

  5. I thought about doing a build like this a few years ago its a lovely thought but what put me off what all the little gliggly bits you dont think about as you go along. All those un thought about spacers wiered bolts and what ever else all add up.
Luckily I ended up buying a running 916 for £1500 with a bucket full of spares. Yes it was a the worlds cheapest 916 and to this day I have not seen one cheaper. Anyway I stripped it and sold off the bits I knew I would be upgrading. I sold all the crap I did not need which netted me about £600. It turned out to be a belting little bike plus I had the enjoyment of seeing it go from a bit of a turd to a decent track bike. I sold it a couple of years later for just shy of £3k

  6. I thought the 4 injector throttles worked ok on the sps etc, as they worked sequentially. dual ign pick-up and P8 ecu.

On the 996 they worked concurrently. You can get an Ultimap chip and r/road set-up to get them to run on two injectors.

Restricted, please take advice from members, they could offer great advice and save you some cash. Also, I know you are doing an ebay only build but don't discount items offered here, as they might be cheaper, or indeed hard to find.

Andyb has vast knowledge on Ducatis. I am not sure he has a build thread on here but here is some info.

  7. Indeed, if required you can just disconnect 2 injectors and then it is as per the single injector TB, so nothing lost if only single injector is required...

  8. You cannot just disconnect the injectors, as the injector timing pulse needs to be altered (extended)via the new chip.

  9. Agreed, but what I meant was that if the bike was built with, for example, a 748 ECU then unplugging the injectors would make it the same as single injectors. So actually this TB setup gives more options with the build as the option for twin injectors is there which would not be the case if single-injector TB was fitted (ECU dependent)

  10. well finally got back from my hols and there were some parcels waiting...

brand new old stock speedo... should be zero miles but has 1 on it, close enough...
found a steering damper for next to nothing so that's ticked off

and well it seemed to cause a riot when I mentioned it last week, so god knows what a bloody pic of the thing will do...
so I present the SPS throttle bodies...

in other news I got my custom end caps fitted to my replacement cans for my 'blade
    [IMG]
yes they are standard Yamaha R1 cans, to go with the R1 subframe and seat unit I have fitted to the bike, just need to finish fabricating the headers I have made and I can sign that job off..
and got my top yoke and swingarm painted and fitted

  12. Thanks... I am basically looking for all the parts required, it started with a frame and grows from there...
my damper was a little less than a fiver ;) lol

  13. Oh dear, not sure this thread took the right direction.

  14. it will...

just will be in my time :)

  15. Dont mean your build, I meant the whole advice/comment and erhem... "friendly banter"

  16. as it says in my first post in the thread... it can all be ignored!!!

in "my" thread the only important thing (to me) is what I put or advice I chose to take... anything else is just wasted bandwith...

and anyway if someone doesn't like what I put (depending on their chosen system) there is a little red box up in the right hand corner with an "x" in it...

  17. Good luck with all the advice in that case

  19. welcome to the "ebay" club...
hey if it gets you down the shed it can only be a good thing...

Oh I don't doubt there are some peeps here who know stuff, it was just the arrogant way that certain individuals commented.. I have no axe to grind, as long as you don't ask people who know me I am actually an ok kind of guy hahaha
