  2. You've had yours at least a month more than mine and YOU HAVEN'T RIDDEN IT!! Man, you're in for a treat!!
Let us know what your first impression is!

  3. It's just been work 7 days a week lately.

I have a few days off, so weather permitting, I'll have a blast. :upyeah:

  6. Shamelessly resurrecting this old thread.

Not much happening, but it's had a new sprag clutch over the last couple of months. Also fitted a Superpole seat.

Fitted Samco hoses and an @Exige Exact Start lead set today. As you can see, the new starter lead has a lot less resistance than my old lead, it's also a lot more substantial. Dash battery reading was 12.3v before fitting the kit, it's now showing 12.7v :upyeah: This is with my out of the box lithiium battery that I haven't charged yet, showing 12.9v with my multimeter.

I'll fill her with coolant tomorrow and see how the cranking over goes. :)

  7. Have you ridden it yet Rob?

  8. Not far, just a few miles to try it out. I put it in my local dealer for some work and it took a month to get it back. By that time it was December. I HATE cold weather.

I'll be the 1st bike I take out when the weather breaks. :)

  9. Looking good Rob,some great mods :upyeah: (What else is there to do in this flippin' weather:mad:)
Soon be spring (hopefully!!) and we can all stop tinkering about in the garage and get out for a good old blast - cant wait :)

  11. Looking good. I see the Exact start leads are 16mm square. Are they the same size as the old ones with a superior grade copper? They look about the same size. Call me a bore but I often focus on small and interesting (to me) detail.
I'm in the middle of upgrading my 1098R. It looks like its just had a direct hit with an RPG at the moment but I'll finish the overhaul by March and post pictures when its all priddy again... Cheers, Paul.

  12. By size, do you mean bore or length?

@Exige is the man to speak to Paul.

  14. Well, I finally got the chance to have a good ride out today. Took it up through Northumberland into the borders.

Until now, the Streetfighter was my favourite bike, it may have just been surpassed. In a word, the 1098R is sublime.

The power is immense, it just wants to lift in the 1st 4 gears. The NOVA gearbox and quick shifter are a match made in heaven. The Ohlins 30mm cartridge upgrade feels super planted on the road. I think the bike is a keeper. :D

  15. Was that the Nix30 ? I'm just building a set of forks for the 853 from 1098 Showas externals and a Nix30 cartridge kit but sounds like it might be better in the 1098R. Andy

  16. Yep, that is what I've got too. Andy

  17. Definitely a keeper. Gonna keep mine. Did you notice any difference with the BST's?Apologies if I've asked before....

  18. Difficult to notice any difference with BST's over the Streetfighter's forged wheels as it's been about 5 months since I was on one of the big bikes. I've only rode my Vespa to commute on in this time.

I was recalibrating my brain and spent most of today shouting "Ffffuuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkkkk" inside my Arai.
