You just about have it, after fitting the new belts , set tension on horizontal l then turn engine 270deg and set vertical, then turn engine a few turns and check again using the same method. Steve
I also bought one of these DUCATI CAM BELT LOCK TOOL TESTASTRETTA 996R 998 749 999 848 1098 1198 | eBay Useless, couldn't get the belt on with it on as the right roller locks and I needed a little "wiggling" to get it on.
So actually I am out. If it's vertical then 270deg to horizontal then that must match horizontal then 90deg for vertical?????
Right, looking like one TDC is compression stroke and the other is exhaust. This will result in the valves being either open or closed at TDC. What I'm not currently sure on is if turning the rear wheel forward so the main cam turns 270deg to vertical TDC puts it on exhaust or compression. Or of it actually matters.
Maybe Creamy's tuning his bike.....................................................to a bloody radio station :Woot:
lol... if id never met you id think you a cunt.... but I have... and guess what? a funny cunt though xxxx
I know Chiz sorry I just can't help it :Sorry: never ought malicious though in fact I can't wait to meet Creamy he comes out with some beauties and given me many a giggle
Turns out I got it wrong. There are 2 TDC. You want the 1st one. And if rechecking the belt in different places, 3rd, 5th, etc.
Think I am correct on that, of course it depends which way you turn the engine, both could give the same result. Steve
90 seems simpler and yes, in a 4 stroke cycle, each piston will go through TDC twice. On the compression stroke all valves will be firmly closed and on the exhaust stroke, the exhaust valves will be closing and the inlets opening.
