Yes chum, and it ran ok which is why I'm asking about the ECU that's fitted now. Just want to make sure it's not lean/ rich/ fat/ angry/ spiteful/ bashful/ dopey/ goofy/ the duck in the sailors costume top bit but no trousers.
Cool. Perhaps run a standard full system map and see what's what. Afraid I don't recognise that start up message. Sounds like you're on the path to enlightenment....:Watching:
My Multistrada dash has a similar type of message, MRR *** and it is made up of the custom mapper's chosen initials (in my case Moto Rapido Racing) and the map reference, 626. Now you all you need to do is find out who's initials they are. Andy
That's interesting. The map that's on the power commander is made by pro twins so I'm guessing that's what the code refers to. Does the fact that the dash is still showing that code without the PC3 connected suggest that the original ECU has been reflashed, or does that code just stay logged in the dashboard no matter what? Am unsure as to whether it's 'live' or not.
Although I prepared to be corrected, it looks like you have an ECU that has been previously flashed with a non standard map. I do not gelieve the PC3 has anything to do with the dash message. It is very possible the PC3 has been added as a "cheaper" option to a remap after the engine had been played with either up or down in specification. Andy
If it helps at all, I'm pretty confident this is the same message that was coming up on the dash when the PC3 was connected.
Interesting read this thread and some great idea's. Nice one @Nelson you did suggest disconnecting the PC in your 1st message... I think its time to bite the bullet and take the bike to a rolling road man and get the ecu re mapped to suit your bike.. I would worry that over/under fueling may cause piston damage etc....
I think IIRC that the stock racing ECU (for a full Termi system) would show 1098 EVO. At some point the ECU has been switched to a super stock one, which would have had a custom map flashed to the EPROM. Do you still have the bone stock ECU you could try? I'm assuming you are running a full system with the current SSTK one. Not sure Pro Twins would have adjusted the map on the SSTK ECU other than just flash an appropriate one to it, as they don't have any dyno facilities. I bought my last 5 bikes from there. Maybe give Rob or Brett a ring for some background info on your bike.
My 1098R came with fitted with a SSTK027 ECU. I know nothing about it other than JHP did some tuning and fitted it. I get the message "SSTK*027" when turning on the ignition. The standard ECU and the 1098 Racing Termignoni ecu were in a box of spares.
Well Nervy, just read this post to page 2 i think you should become a journalist! the way you explain your problems would make a great magazine article! and also bring in a few quid as well.
Haha! Thanks! That's a kind thing to say mate! Funnily enough, I did actually write for a couple of car mags but the money was genuinely so woeful that it cost me an absolute fortune to do. It would have been cheaper for me to send them a cheque for £300 every month and not bother writing anything. On a totally unrelated note, does any one want 32,000 staplers?
