The golf is a GTD. Actually well impressed with it. Did have a BMW 5 series M Sport but the benefit in kind tax was a joke. It's a nice little motor. It's no Ducati though!
To tell the truth its my first time wobbling round a track in nearly 10:screamcat: noise restriction a lot has changed. So i had on Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa which work well with the mix of weather condition at the time, but when gets abit warmer may opt for super corsa.
The 899 in terms of best tyres to use won't be much different from any other bike really. It's all about the conditions and your riding ability and then being able to ensure you keep to the optimum pressures. I presume we're talking about dedicated track use and not exclusively road legal tyres? This is my opinions as to what works best and when to use them. The below only applies to dry conditions. If it is wet then use full wets Jan-April and Oct-Dec(ish): Decent road tyres work best as the track temperatures won't be high enough to warrant a 'compound' tyre. I've used Supercorsa SP's and Metzeler Interact K3's which have been perfect. They warm up quickly and are grippy and very forgiving. They won't have the all-out grip of a non road-legal 'racing' tyre though. You'll be using fairly high tyre pressures, probably 30PSI front and rear. April-October(ish): When the track temperatures are a little higher, i.e. 15 degrees plus you can then use a compound tyre to get more grip. So you'll be looking at Supercorsa SC2 rears and SC1 fronts/Metzeler K2 rear/K1 front. When temperatures are really hot you'll want to be using a softer rear and harder front, so SC1 rear and SC2 front. Monitoring and keeping constant pressures are more important here as they will fluctuate more. You'll want to be setting an initial pressure after they've been in the warmers, then check immediately after every session. You're looking at somewhere around 26PSI hot rear and 30PSI hot front. I'm only familiar with Pirelli and Metzeler track tyres, I can't comment about Dunlop/Avon/Michelin etc etc...

Almost the same here.... Just got the Golf GTE in March and pick up a 959 tomorrow. (BIK played a big part with my choice too... only 5%!). Will post a picture when I finally collect... it has been the longest 4 days in history!
There is a thread elsewhere of a chap that had manual adjusters fitted by JWR Suspension. I don't know if you are aware, but it may be worth looking into...
Time to introduce you to the beast.... Had her just over a week now and put 500 mile on her. I just can't stop taking her out!
