999 749 / 999 Modifications - What Did You Do ?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Dubs, Aug 12, 2015.

  1. Just used mine for the first time in anger at Almeria, sublime at high revs, but like has been said above at slow speeds I just used the clutch.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Thx @domRusty
Super, my fear was that there would be interference at low speeds, I don't know if it'll add anything for me road wise:Happy: but if its on and I sell the bike its quite a good upgrade to have in a buyers eyes,

  3. Your behaviour has been somewhat consistant since joining :Watching:

  4. What is the preferred race screens for the earlier 749/999 fairings?

  5. Bringing in "behaviour" eh? Does this mean I'm running close to the banned line with the microglasses checkin me out!:Locktopic:

  6. There's only one Dictator on this Forum with such power, Darth Toro :Angelic:

  7. Darth Toro has not yet slapped my arse, but if your comment is to assist in keeping it this way then hint taken! If I continue with the poor spelling after this episode at home then I promise to take spelling lessons although 11 years of schooling didn't help me!

  8. We should hide now :Bag::Bag:

  10. I'm upgrading to a Microtec M197 ECU and the Microtec QS will be next. :)

  11. Just fitted an R1 throttle tube. I found the original just to sloppy and this
has really sharpened it up, especially if you like to "blip" on down shift.
So now I think Ive done the three most beneficial mods
    Cables
    Throttle
    Oberon slave
Got to look at brakes next

  12. Made some carbon fiber clip-ons, mounted with Speedymoto clamps and titanium bolts :)

  13. How did you make them? Did you make the actual bars from carbon?

  14. carbonology.com. UK company. That's who I use, actual manufactures who work on aerospace projects.

  15. None of the above answer the question - I just wondered if @jusutus had laid up and cured the bars himself from prepreg CFRP or whether he had bought some pre-made CFRP bar material and cut/drilled it to suit his bike.

  16. Bought some 22/18mm carbon tube (roll wrapped), cut it down to length, added some OEM bar ends and some £2 blanking plugs and voilà. They weigh about 65g each.

  19. Man that's beautiful chap, that list is longer than the build list the builders gets from new!!!
I see you really like DP stuff, is it cause it Ducati or you prefer their designs?
The red and black frame on the 749/999 look sooo much better than my silver, think I'm going to need the chop mine in for the later model and my spinal recovery is getting better so sports bike remain maybe a late 999 this time;)
