1199 Any Problems To Look For?

  1. Hi guys, just my 2nd thread but i've been browsing!

Looking to buy my 1st Ducati & previously was going to go for a 1098/1198S but thought i'd stretch a bit to a standard 1199 given it's better service intervals & (IMO) better looks. Finally i've sourced one that seems good value (2014 with 5k on it) but i'd like to know are there any problems i should be looking out for? I have noticed an above average amount of 1199's have had the clocks changed under warranty & the one i'm looking at is the same, do they have a problem in this area as i'd prefer to know if i may have to replace again when it's out of warranty, i'm sure they're very affordable?!?!

Apart from that do i need to look for anything else? The trip to get it will cost a few £ so i'd ideally like to know what i'm looking for or what to ask before i decide to buy!

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

  2. Rear suspension collapsing would be the main one with the shock bolt breaking...

  3. Wow! Really, well thats just bloody dangerous!! What's the fix for that if any? Has someone made an upgraded bolt?

Ps. Exige, what is that bike in your profile pic? It looks awesome & i'm building something very similar at the minute!

  4. Unfortunately more than dangerous - there is a thread on here about it.

More pictures of my Z1 here, it's a 1975 Z1b - what are you building?

  5. Thank you, deffo something to look for!!

I moved house a year ago so haven't got at finishing this since moving. It's a Z650 with ZX10 front end, ZRX1200 swingarm, zx7r wheels, gpz750 turbo engine bored to 810, Garrett gt2056 turbo, gpz1100 throttlebodies with 350cc injectors, custom intercooler & remounted larger oil cooler.

Need to change the ECU for another brand as Ignitech haven't helped 1 bit so needs a rewire!

After it's up n running I'll get header pipes made, should be ok for 175-200hp before the headers & 25hp more after

Trying to post a pic here!

  6. Never used photobucket so can't help there...
