I took a lot of plastic off.... I took the head plastics off first. Not that much of a pain, loosen the sub frame and lift it to get plastics out. Looks 10 times better. Then removed the shock guard plastic, reduced the hugger and cable routing. Removed the shark fin and chain guard. Uncluttered the swingarm side basically. Polished the OEM exhaust headers Only mod that has cost anything was the QS by translogic. Well worth it.
Cheers I have only started the bike, warmed it up and ran up and down the street to check for error warnings lights so can't really say for sure. It does sound bit louder than with the akrapovic and a lot noticabley loudet than the OEM exhaust when revving the engine but i also disabled the flapper valve which may have something to do with it. The akrapovic slip on sounds suprisingly good dispite retaining the huge underbelly silencer but I expect this will sound more like what it's supposed to. Can't wait to try it out properly. Also got ohlins damper, bled the clutch and brakes and fitted SBS pads since i laid it up for the winter and have supercorsa SP tyres now, so a few things to try out.
Cheers so you just loosen the 4 subframe bolts and pull it up? How are the plastic panels held on? How may bolts and where are they?
Remove the seat Remove the fuel tank Remove the 2 lower subframe bolts completely Loosen the left and right subframe bolts, lift the tail piece until it clears the head plastics and tighten the left and right bolts a bit so that the tail piece stays in the tilted position, Now you can loosen the plastics with all the visible bolts, put them all back after you remove the covers. Left hand side wire really routes next to the frame...
Looks like a lot of work, but it is easy. To make it all look really good you actually need some early 1199 bolts to clean up the look, I will do that later.
Yesterday was spent fitting the 1199 clutch case, ducabike clutch cover, DID gold chain and carbon front fender. A few hurdles along the way, but chuffed with the result
Ordered a 1299 collect in a couple of weeks, woke up yesterday morning and realised I'd not have anything to ride in 2017. Quick call to Tony & Steve at Ducati Aylesbury and all sorted. Having had an 1199S with a load of mods and a Superleggera I don't want to chuck a fortune at this one so only ordered; - ProGrips (essential) - R&G Tail Tidy as the DP one on the SL was a bit rubbish - Larger Screen - Race Seat Plan to have the wheels powder coated before I register it in March, and have the suspension tweaked to suit. Other than that she's staying close to standard. Happy & safe riding this year all, hope to meet some of you on track in 2017.
And you think th dp tail tidy is bad, don't let a rg tail tidy near a pani there are loads better alternatives out there.
