Hi Gp80 Glad you were able to remove your rear pegs. I am doing that to my new 959. Two large bolts are out but can't seem to get the pegs off the spacers? How did you overcome that please? Also the OEM heatshield (plastic cover) stops me removing the last smaller connecting bolt to the pegs from each other? Thanks Shummi
Hi Gp80 I have recently purchased a 959 and want to remove the rear pegs. How did you manage to get over the spacers when you removed yours? All the bolts have been removed from the pegs so they are loose, don't want to force anything in case it snaps the plastic heat guard. Thanks Shummi
I have a 1299. If it is the same as the 959 (and it probably is) then yes the pegs are very tight between the heat shield and the sub-frame. They _will_ come out if you gently push the shield down. If you intend to fit and remove them on a regular basis, when removed you can shamfer the inside edges of each half so that they slide over the spacers in the shield easier. You will need the two alloy spacers in place of the footpegs when you put the bolts back (they came with my bike).
The sad part is that they are mounted by the dealer. They aren't there out of the crate. They should ask first.
Hi Razz Thanks for reply. I did manage to remove my pegs after a lifelong battle!! Geez...thanks Ducati for making this easy! Unfortunately I don't seem to have the spacers to replace the pegs? Not with bike? So, now I am stuck...Can't ride the bike because the shield will rattle around and if getting the pegs back on takes the same time I will be dead! Anyone know how much correct spacers cost? Thanks Shummi
The 959 doesn't have additional spacers. Just remove the pillion pegs and bolt it up, it is fine - the plastic shield just say touches the subframe. Fitting a 1mm washer between the spacer and subframe is enough to stop the plastic shield touching the paint. There's a bit about it here https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/my-new-959.51906/page-2
Hi flatstick959 Thanks for your input. I have tried to look for answers on forum before asking as Im new to forum, going over old ground for some of you. The gap between plastic heat shield is more on mine than yours and certainly more than 1mm. When you push it up to tail there is approx 5mm gap still!! Would be slightly more than 1 washer...On 15K bike that makes it look cheap. Seems Ducati made mine with more tolerance?
There has to be a gap as the spacers are in place to stop the undertray hitting the subframe It should look like this with one pair of spacers Or if you were lucky enough to get 2x pairs of spacers at PDI (mine didn't come with them!) it would be like this

Mine definitely didn't come with any. I'm guessing they were meant to be fitted when the bike is PDI'd or used in replacement of the pegs if removed. Either way mine didn't come with them. I bought a new 1299 full system taken from a brand new bike and that did come with them. I tried with and without them and think it looks better without the spacers.
