Panigale R Pillion Seat And Foot Pegs

  1. we need someone with a pani R who have a pillion seat fitted, so far its all ifs and buts no one seems to know for sure.
The 59521091A that I have will fit the pre 2014 1199 the other I have no idea as it has been returned to the dealer.

  2. I hear you Gabriel but it now sounds to me as if we should be ok with a 1299 seat. This is what I have been told by numerous sources and it's also what I thought too before I started asking around. I can see why you might've thought that the earlier 1199R seats would fit our Pani R's (I guess because our bikes are 1199's too)... but for me I always assumed that as the Pani R came out around the same time as the 1299, that if any pillion seat would fit it would be the 1299 one. In any case, let me see what the people at the factory in Borgo Panigale have to say!!

  3. The first gen r has the same tail unit as a 1199 and 899, the second gen r has the same tail unit as a 1299 and 959, depending on what gen r you have will determine what pillion seat you will need.

  4. I'm with you all the way on that one!

  5. So this is the latest... when I first spoke to Ducati Italy, they said that the 1299 Comfort seat 96880231A would fit a 2015 Panigale R hands down no questions asked... when I explained and pressed them a little further, they said they would check with some sort of Tech Team and get back to me... Today they've advised that a Panigale R 2015 is a single seater and that there isn't a pillion seat available for it. I've asked them if they've actually performed any checks other than reading some information off a computer screen but they wouldn't do anything other than relay the same answer to me. As one of you many good folk on this forum recently mentioned to me... "Ducati have just about as much an idea about their own bikes as the next man"... so on that note... I'll continue to delve deeper! Screenshot_2017-06-08-16-11-29[1].png

  6. The time has finally come to put an end to this pillion seat for a Panigale R 2015 conundrum... part number 595P2621A arrived today... and it fits!
I'll leave figuring out what to do with the pillion pegs that I also received for another time... at least I can now secure the new Kriega luggage that I bought last week... phew!

  7. Now we know that there is a pillion seat for this bike, I am still waiting for mine .

  8. Just offered up rear footrests to my 1299 with the standard R Carbon heatshield fitted, looks like the they will fit ok.

  9. Morning dude and thanks for giving that a go, coincidentally I tried the same things yesterday and I couldn't get the footrests to fit. I was doing it all in a bit of rush although I did give the inside of my heat shield a good feel as seeing inside it is a bit of a struggle (with it fitted to the bike I mean) and am I right that there are only two bolts that hook it up to the subframe? Or is there a 3rd bolt that I missed?

  10. There is a third bolt up by the rear header, I think the pillion footrests will go on but it's a bit tight.

  11. Top man and really appreciate all of your help. I'll try to install the foot pegs next weekend and it's a good sign that there appeared to be quite a gap between the inside of the heat shield and the rear headers on my bike which gives me hope that the shield will come down far enough to leave enough of a gap to slide the peg assesmbly in.
Just thinking ahead, if I end up having to bring the shield so far down that the inside of it touches on the rear headers, would leaving it like that be a big no no?

  12. image.jpeg I think maybe the spacers are not needed if you use the foot rests, so the gap between the headers and the heart shield should remain the same, this is guess work as I have never had the pillion pegs fitted.

Cheers buddy and I've seen those spacers in an online video demo but mine doesn't have them fitted, so my heat shield will definitely need shifting south... I'll give it all a go and try not to break anything!

  14. Hi. You will need to cut a nice hole where the right peg touches the carbon fibre heat shield, Only one side will do and you will need two bolts 10mm longer than the ones already there, Can get them from Ducati .

  15. Cheers for the update Emile!
Have you actually fitted the pegs onto your Panigale R and modified the carbon fibre heat shield already? Or has a dealer/someone else informed you that this is the procedure to follow but you haven't tested it yet?
In any case, are you referring to the Standard Panigale R carbon fibre heat shield and the Standard 1299 foot peg assembly?

  16. I did it my self. The pegs are on the bike since Feb., I use them to hook a rear view cam watching for them blue lights

  18. Hey Emile, thanks for the photo as it's good to get an idea what it'll end up looking like. I take it the that the rear hanger assembly is really close to heat shield? Do you not think there would be a way of making it all fit without having to cut the heat shield?

  19. If your pegs are similar to mine and the heat shield is identical. I think if you don't cut a hole you will damage the shield .The other peg is just touching the shield .

  20. Hey there! So I've been giving this whole removing the heat shield thing a go again today and I've had a good old look and I'm not seeing a 3rd bolt anywhere. When I've released the 2x "obvious" bolts the heat shield still doesn't want to come off as it appears to somehow be attached in an around that circular hole with the wire going through it that you can see in one of the pictures. Any ideas? Maybe for some reason it's been glued on around that area? HeatShield.jpg HeatShield2.jpg
