Bought my 1st Ducati in 2000, however, I had a mate you bought a 900ss ( black and gold ) about 1981. He could not afford to insure it at the time, spent all his money on the bike and loaned it to me for 6 months. I had a GS750 at the time and was insured for other bikes. Thankfully I never crashed it, dodgy electrics , a pig in town but out on the open road brilliant. Tickle the carbs , set the engine in correct position for kick starting........hurt myself a few times learning to kick start properly. Great sound from the Conti pipes. Sad day when I had to hand it back to him, took him the 6 months to save for insurance. Great days.
My first five, all purchased used: 1. Garelli Giulietta (?) 50cc of 1976 (with LeoVince exhaust and bigger bore) 2. Suzuki SV650S of 2001 (first love, but boring design) 3. Ducati 748 E Ducati 748 S Ducati 1098 S Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S I tried some bikes between, but those are my first 5 bikes I was legally able to drive and kept for a long period. I'm a bit of a Ducati fanatic and can't get away from them Thinking back on all of the bikes I've owned both in the UK and then the US is kinda scary... Maybe I have a problem?
