First Five....

3. 1999 Honda Fireblade (Just before my 19th birthday, 132rwhp with a stage 2 dyno jet kit)
4. 1989 NC30 (loved the handling)
5. 2001 TLS (had the frame replaced and then punted it down the track at Pembrey, lasting 11 miles. I overtook 3 people into Honda Curve and Phil Bevan called me “a fucking lunatic”. To be 21 again.....”

Of all these first bikes I wish I still had the Alpha 1 Maico. It was too much for me when I was 17 it would probably be to much for me now in my mid 50’s.

I think it was 1983 that I got my first Ducati.
Anyone get a Ducati earlier?

So, you may of won the Guzzi competition, but what year did you get your first Ducati?

 

Ha Ha, no, traded in the Commando for the Guzzi, tired of getting the Nortons stolen, first Ducati - 2019 (950S) though did test ride a Ducati Darmah in the 70's ....

 

I got a Darmah in the early 80s (without a test ride) so I owned one first but you rode one first!

 

Bought my 1st Ducati in 2000, however, I had a mate you bought a 900ss ( black and gold ) about 1981. He could not afford to insure it at the time, spent all his money on the bike and loaned it to me for 6 months. I had a GS750 at the time and was insured for other bikes.
Thankfully I never crashed it, dodgy electrics , a pig in town but out on the open road brilliant.
Tickle the carbs , set the engine in correct position for kick starting........hurt myself a few times learning to kick start properly. Great sound from the Conti pipes.
Sad day when I had to hand it back to him, took him the 6 months to save for insurance.

3. Kawasaki ZXR400 L8 of 2000 (still have, 54'000km now)
4. Honda VFR800 VTEC of 2003 (6th generation, terrible VTEC transition)
5. Kawasaki ZX-6R of 2005 (while in the US, great bike)

I tried some bikes between, but those are my first 5 bikes I was legally able to drive and kept for a long period. I'm a bit of a Ducati fanatic and can't get away from them Thinking back on all of the bikes I've owned both in the UK and then the US is kinda scary... Maybe I have a problem?
