I wouldn't put the foam back on , even if it is soaked in ACF50. The foam will hold moisture , dont do it
Welp, I must have not noticed it, but yea, sponge has been removed. Anyway, I put ACF 50 on the bike (removed covers) on day one last year. Have ridden through some horrible rain storms and salty roads. This is what mine looks like. Always rust prevent your bikes!!! It takes 30 minutes once a year and saves so many headaches.
I’ve just read this post and removed the cover to inspect mine. photo here - bad enough to try to get a warranty replacement?
Several questions. How old is the bike ? If it is within warranty, did you buy the bike from your local dealer ? How good a relationship do you have with your local dealer ? If the bike is out of warranty and you have a strong relationship with your dealer, they may be prepared to argue your case. Andy
Thanks - it’s 2019 and I’ve had it since Nov. It’s still under 4ever warranty. Only relationship at the moment is to buy the bike.
Thanks - it’s in on Fri for the check engine light, so have asked them to look at this too. Fingers crossed.
Only just come across this thread and now dreading having a look at mine... How many bolts is it to remove the cover, just the 3 main ones?
Looks OK, take off the sticker, clean the bolts up, spay with Anti-corrosion (I use Wurth 20/40) and fit a metal pump protector such as a Rizoma (others make available).
I didn't think it looked bad compared to others. Need to clean it up a bit and see what the bolts look like as the foam was stuck to them all.
