  1. you are right, it would be good to have a list of worthwhile mods, used to do this for one particular car but long before Internet so believe it or not, it was much easier.

Have you still got a standard water radiator? There is a design fault here also where the rad usually ends up fracturing and then leaking at the top left of the item just next to the fixing, caused by an "argument" between this fixing and the very stable water hoses on this side. It can happen on the R/H side as well apparently but not seen this with my own eyes.
Apparently Ducati manufactured a better design to eradicate this, but I know of at least a couple of owners who still went on to spring a leak in the same place despite this. For me it's incredible, but the answer to this is a Chinese replacement as the perimeter frame of the radiator is usually stronger* and can withstand the flexing.

*there are at least 3 different designs, and there can be a few fettling issues but not enough to stop recommending this as a cure.

  2. This is another issue with my bike that I thought was drop or heavy handed mechanic issue, the right hand top rad mount has come away from the rad, I need to get it welded back on so will look at the stress on it when I do, go on, try for three out of three, what else is broke on my bike HaHa...

  3. Let’s hope it is not the TPS as Ducati will only sell you a complete throttle body and not just the sensor.
The TPS is the same as used on the Fiat Punto 1.2 part number 71738921. Just Google the info.

  4. I've yet to my collect her; so I will have a close inspection of the old airbox and provide an update later. I'll also find out if my battery tray/lid had/has a tie wrap and which brand of air filter was fitted? As previously mentioned, I've not had enough time to spend on my bikes; last year was a complete blur! But now I've a new double garage I've a tad more space to scatter bike bits!
The oil on the coil sticks was the issue - so..... new plugs, belts, fluids and air filter she apparently 'pulls like a train' again and no sign of a mis-fire or dropping one cylinder. Can't wait to ride her home especially if the weather holds - happy days!! :D Thanks to all for the suggestions and tips - and of course AndyB.

  5. Thats great news, troubles over, unfortunately not for me, diagnostics can see no fault so it is being recommended that the ECU is sent away to have the mapping checked, apparently there is a place in Essex that can do this so may be the way forward, the dealer I bought it from has been true to his word and is covering costs so at least im not paying.. Is a real shame as once over the flat spot it runs lovely...

  9. Looks good to me mate. I made some Enquiries and the fella I had in mind couldn’t help anyway

Let us know how you get on.

  10. I will, looking to get the ECU refreshed back to standard with slip on Termi cans, hoping this will fix it, going with no lambda, exhaust valve but keep the immobiliser.. some startup text could be good but not sure, thinking 'DUCATI BALLISTIC' could be cool..

  11. I didn’t know you can change the dash message. That will be a nice touch !

  12. Now I'd also be a tad disappointed at not knowing what 'the fault' is - hate chasing my tail. Hope your dealer manages to get it sorted ASAP! Not that you'll want to read this, but collected mine this morning (after sitting in t'other halfs car in full leathers and stuck on the A38 for 1.5 hours which the traffic agency decided to close!!!), however, made it to the garage before it closed and enjoyed the ride home - normality is restored apart from the bank balance o_O But she's worth it... :) Good luck terryphukwit.

  13. Thats awesome news, so glad they found the fault and got it sorted for you. Why was the oil leaking, I assume the valve covers, not screwed down tight or bad seals??
On the bright side I now know it is not going to cause any more damage as it were so im out on a DOC run today:upyeah:

  14. Enjoy your outing, just keep the revs up! Yeah...I gather the valve covers are not sealed from factory? They are now!!

  15. Maybe @chrisw can help with the remap? Think Antony stopped the mapping a while ago at avanti

  16. The valve cover seals aren’t the greatest. They seal fine when new, but over time they give up across the face of the cylinder head. Nothing comes loose etc. whenever I replace them, even new ones, I seal them down on a thin layer of threebond. It’s very common to find the plugs wet with oil, when it gets bad enough the oil tracks up the coil stick and there’s ya misfire.

  17. The mapping is not usually the problem and remains unchanged. Problems can be caused by drivers failing. Where the ECU provides a negative trigger to a component. For example, the coils.
