FYI K-tech offer plastic front fork top cap spanner’s in various sizes, including 32mm (currently £13.79 plus shipping) if that’s any help. No experience with this tool myself, but K-tech usually good quality.

I use these for my fork tops. The jaws are smooth and they move parallel to each other. They also have a finely incremented adjustment range. You can exert a good amount of force without any play or gap between the tool and nut. It minimises the risk of damage greatly.
Thx is for this tip, worked a treat, luckily I read that you need to undo the top clamp before trying to unscrew the caps......, but pricey with the postage but..
