Good stuff Guillaume. GB Motorcycle Products has a really good reputation, quality tools. I'll say it quietly...but in the past I've use 5 cent pieces to lock up gears so you can torque as required, dunno if it is possible in this case though.
Got this wonderful magical (and sturdy!) tool yesterday. Which allowed me to torque back the alternator nut at 180 Nm with red loctite. And button her up. She fired right away, always a pleasure… Set the injection right and this morning, I intend to go for a quick road test. Roads are dry, but with 3 degrees, it’s cold. On a side note, I was surprised at how much changing the valve clearances impacted the idle mixture. When I first started her, I found the horizontal cylinder was running fairly rich (AFR = 7) and the vertical rather poor (AFR = 20…). Adjusting the airbleed screws to get a steady and synchronized idle as well as the ECU mixture screw brought everything back in my target AFR range of 12.5/12.3.
Went for a quick test (cold) ride today, 20 miles around our neighborhood and… well, works a treat! This is such a great bike. When comparing it to the 851 SP2, you can tell it’s the same motor, but everything about it is smoother, lighter, slicker, in a word, sexier. Happy life!!
