If you need to induce an immo fault to test bypass codes then wrap the key in tin foil. It will block the transponder from the antenna and you will get a dash MIL.
Hi Chris I’m brand new here and brand new to Ducatis. My first, a 2011 Hypermotard 796 was delivered to me today by a dealer I won’t mention. Two black keys, no tag, no card. I had no idea the code card was a thing until I read the manual tonight. Obviously this puts me in vulnerable position. I can’t PM you (yet). Might you drop me a PM and perhaps we could talk about getting my codes off my keys? Thanks. Tim
Hi @chrisw , my apologies for the post, but I too only have two black keys, no tag, no card on my Desmo. I am scared that these keys will be damaged and I won't be able to recover the code. Can you please PM me so we can discuss if there is anyway you can help me? Thank you in advance, hope to hear from you soon!
Just a quick update to say thanks to Chris and underline how ridiculously easy it was to retrieve the two immo codes for my two black keys using the key reader and the Excel spreadsheet. Chris was extremely helpful throughout and all it cost was the postage. Fantastic!
I’d like to agree with you. I too have been in touch with Chris and he has been helping me with the same issue. Chris is such a great and stand up person, very helpful and friendly. Thanks Chris! Really appreciate you
Just bought a 2013 848 EVO with 2 black keys, a small metal tag, but no code card. Is the code card the same as the code stamped on the small metal tag?
No. That is the manual key number that allows a locksmith to cut a key without having a key to copy. The bypass code is only on the code card.
Many thanks for your swift reply to what was, probably, a very stupid question. Although it doesn't affect me at the moment, it seems that I have a problem just waiting to happen. Once again many thanks
Hi @chrisw, New here on the forum. I have a Ducati Streetfighter 848 2011 that has a broken dash and found a kit (dashboard, one back key no card, ignition hub etc). I have the original two black keys and the card from my bike and I was thinking of using the key from the new set to reprogram my original two keys in order to keep my original keys, ignition hub, tank hub and passenger seat hub. I know I would need to use my key to open my ignition but wrap it in tin foil and keep the other key from the kit next to it so the antena reads it. But in order to reprogram my two original keys I need to figure out the code from the card. I have friend with a Flipper Zero. Can I use it to access the information from the key and decode the code? Or what other method can I use to read and decode the code in the key from the kit? I am thinking of this method so I don't need to buy a new blank back key and find a locksmith to copy it and then to use the sequence in order to program it (although I would still need to read the code from the key because it doesn't come with the card and the code). I would highly appreciate some help/insights. Thank you very much in advance!
Not familiar with the dash. Does it come apart or is it sealed? Which immo chip does it use? This may be useful https://www.ducati.ms/threads/guide-how-to-retrieve-immo-code-code-card-code.734349/ Initial enquiries suggest it uses the PIC chip and may be sealed. Digital Kaos may be your best source of information.
It is the sealed type of dash. Pic 1&2 from a dash I found to buy, Pic 3 is my dash without the display, and Pic 4 is the complete set I found to buy with only one black key and no card (they type with only two black keys). Already checked that thread. I came to you because it seems you cracked the I2K with two black keys. The only thing I want to do is read the code that was on the card but directly from the only key I will have (from the kit that comes with only one key) in order to program my other two original keys, so I don't have to buy a blank key, carve it and then reprogram it (still needing to have the code from the non-existent card). Can you leave me a PM?
Look at post #16 on the Ducati MS site. You need to find someone with a TMPro and then cut the dash as in the image to reveal the programming pins. No point asking me to help because I cannot.
