848 rear tyre choice

  1. Evening all,
Need to replace my rear tyre in the next few days for my 848,any recommendations for a general good quality tyre for the road? Cheers all!

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. I put Dunlop Sportsmarts on mine. To me, they feel far better than the OEM Pirelli. I get around 4K out of the back tyre.

  3. +1 on the above. I got around 4.5k and 3 trackdays out of mine. Good on the track, good on the road all year round. One of the best tyres out there IMHO.

  4. Assume you mean pair? Not ,ix n match front and rear?

  5. Just had the mot and service, front tyre is spot on they said just change the back,I've got pirelli's on at the moment,is it best to stick with a Pirelli on the back then to keep them the same?

  6. In my view the same make and model, they are designed to work that way

  7. Ahhhh, see what you mean,I'll probably go with the same that was already on it,then maybe change brands when both are due

  8. Yep Rosso Corso. Pr3s are great if you don't do too many track days. As 749sDub has pointed out about, don't mix and match brands. Very bad idea :)

  9. Moved to 848/1098 :)

  10. Went for the Pirelli Diablo supercorse v2,
I'll see how we go with that

  11. got myself dunlop sportsmart 2 last week .... front tyre look really weird but the grip on the rainy days is much better than pirrelli supercorsa

  12. I'll try and avoid riding in the rain!

  13. Pireelli SC is rubbish in wet and greasy roads. Needs a good warm up on the road, then as far as I am concerned there is no better tyre. I just wish they lasted longer.

I dont ride in the wet unless ive been caught out.

  14. Same here. The front of the SportSmart 2's is more V shaped. This makes the bike easier to tip in to corners. Coming from my Daytona to my 848 I found the latter much harder to steer. With the Dunlops it's as easy to steer into a corner as the Daytona.

  15. interesting. i am needing to change the tyres on the 848. and would like something that works better in the cold and wet. perrelli S.C on as standard.

  16. I have Pirelli Corsas - sticky enough for me :)

  17. i know the bike is defo needing set up for me as it bounces me all over the place but i have a three mile straight on the way to work before i hit the twisties first corner the back end kicks out i have only done 2k on it and have the T.C on highest setting. was thinking on replacing them with Michelin power pure that's on the multy which always feel more planted. .no issues on the way home from work.
