600 SS - Just purchased - orignal part

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Tpog60, Feb 12, 2014.

  1. I have just striped the carbs off. Going to strip them down tomorrow at work at make sure nothing is blocked or missed anything. It is dyno jetted.

  2. Can someone point me in the right direction on allens website please.

Going to need these two new bits. The number stamped on it is 70 I think and the letter R with a square symbol next to it.

  4. Where did that come from??

Are you saying that is a jet and the retainer that holds the main jet in??

If so, that is a starter jet.........because it is the only one which would be a 70.

And if its the retainer, it's not like the shape of any I have seen.....

If you can't get them from Allens, I probably have them.

  5. That's what other carb looks like.

  6. Excuse the sarcasm..................so much for ultrasonic cleaning...........

.......No surprise why it doesn't keep running.

That is the correct retainer shape.

    I can't read the starter jet size..........but I think it should be a 70.

The pilot jet (down the hole) I expect to be a 37.5............That is small enough to be well blocked up with cr*p.

Let's get this straight..............what size is the main jet (the one with the O-ring around it) and has it got the square logo or nothing but a number on it?

If it is a Dynojet, I suspect it will either be a 144 or 148 for a Stage 2 kit; or a 124 or 128 for a Stage 1 kit......If it isn't a Dynojet, then it is probably a 132.5 (with the square logo).

I expect you are going to need several O rings, and study the diaphragms thoroughly for splits, cracking and stiffness.......they should be very pliable.

  7. Allens don't do that fork bracket. Can I buy one off someone please?

  8. I have a 70, 132.5 and 42.5 if my eye sight is correct.

  9. If I have the carbs in pieces I might aswell dynojet them then. Is there a website that sells the kits?

  10. You said at your post at the top of this page that were already Dynojetted.......

.....How did you assess that? Because if the main jet has got the square logo on it, it is a standard OEM jet at 132.5 size.

Post a photo of the needle and see if you can show any size / markings on it.

If the bike hasn't been played around with like airbox trumpets missing or the airbox cut about, plus a different exhaust system, then the chances are it hasn't got a Dynojet kit fitted.

  11. Google 'Dynojet'

  12. Sorry about all the questions, I just want to make sure I get the correct stuff

  13. Cheers gaz, just bought it. Going to buy a dynojet kit, stage 1.

  14. Does a Dynojet kit make a huge difference?

  15. I wouldn't have thought so on a 600 without doing more to the exhaust and airbox......

....you would probably get more oommph after a plate of sprouts and pointing your a*se backwards........

Bl**dy hell..................didn't give me much time to answer...................£8.34p !! Money to burn...........;)

........wait until you decide you need emulsion tubes and float assemblies..............!!

And.............you still haven't answered how you knew it had already been Dynojetted

  16. I didnt want to take your spare one.

I will leave the dynojet then, just do a clean and rebuild.

  17. It might be less expensive and easier for you at the moment to stick with clean and standard stuff in good condition.........setting them up from scratch when OEM is bad enough; it gets harder when you have changed things.

You may have been lucky to have got the clip from a Yamaha main dealer but I bet they would have cost as much if not more..........However, you can get service kits (o-rings and gasket seals) for these carbs from places other than Allens..........I can't recall from where but.......ebay is a good start.

What markings are on the main needle?
