2006 DB5R with the motor swapped out for an improved Motard 1100 built up a bit Fairing is rare factory Bimota race fairing
Gotta ask you....What DO you think is a beautiful bike? You think Supermonos, Trolls and 999s are ugly and my Bimota understated for what it is so..... What have you got that is your definition of a beautiful bike?
I think its the lines that dont match. The supermono has way too big a can and I domt like the tank (same as SSie) and t9 and yours its the mismatch of smooth and angular lines
You are a hard person to please. You didn't give an example of one you DO like. Here is my "outside of the box" KTM 690 Duke with a couple of mods. Ay or Nay sez you?
I ride ot, not look at it Yep like that Grady, from that angle, reckon a T9 or similar lined fairing would make it look better I like the pierbon stuff... Note: I'd stick a pic up but for some reason its not letting me!! I'll be back
Which one? The KTM weighs 290lbs, has a hair under 80 hp and is the easiest bike to ride that I have ever ridden. Here is a pic of the front fairing and an example of how it is to ride. All SVs behind.
The Troll was very narrow, old school geometry (assuming you rode GP bikes in your old school) mellow, strong (maybe 90hp) and lots of feel with the brakes. The Bimota is razor sharp, torquey as hell, quick shifter is sweet, planted in turns but corrections are easy but the brakes.....ah yes the brakes.....Panagale brakes with no ABS. Touchy one finger operation. Will take some getting used to especially after getting off the KTM with single disc ABS. Which is what I did and then went right back out on the Bimota. This photo shows the result of tucking the front end under hard braking in T5 at Summit Point.
How easy was that KTM to do? Is it just change wheels, forks and add some bodywork to make it a race rep tool?
Not to Be picky but the brakes aren't panigale judging by the pic. They look like m4 monoblocks as fitted to 848 evo 1098 etc. Not the newer m50 calipers. Lovely bike btw.
Stock wheels, KTM Powerparts WP racing forks and shock, custom made sub frame (dropped 20 lbs using tubing from a Ducati crate!) Toss the airbox for a K&N, cam, pipe, ecu remap, custom fairing bracket incorporating an Ohlins steering damper, 848 race tail and fairing as mentioned, KTM EJC belly pan, clip ons and slicks. Bike started as a 2013 KTM Duke690. Front geometry is off a ways for road racing but the light weight compensates for it somewhat. Considering a Framecrafters GP build this winter to lose more weight and fix the engine position and geometry. Project is already out of hand so why stop? I wish Ducati would make a modern Supermono. Hack a cylinder off the Panagale, give it 90+hp, 320lbs or so on the street and proper Ducati geometry and handling. I can dream....
grady sorry to hear about your off ...hope the bike fixes ok....stunning bike by the way, keep enjoying yourself.
You are quite right. Panagale wasn't even made when this was built. Still way more brake than I have ever used. Glad you like it's looks. I do too. Maybe I'll make a replica 848 tank for the KTM to keep Bradders happy. {:^)
