1200 Re-map Or Not - 2013 S

  1. No what we're saying is if you want to unleash the true potential of the engine then change the complete exhaust, lose the cat which saves a lot of weight and lets the bike breath better,
as does losing the flapper valve, which is only there to reduce noise, and the o2 sensors which make sure the emissions comply, change the air filter then get it mapped correctly, not using the generic
up map key, you then have a totally transformed bike, smoother, quicker, and a lot more enjoyable to ride :)
But that's a personal choice thing, or leave it as is and its still a lovely bike. :upyeah:

  2. Absolutely the best bang for your buck!
Decat and pipe will make it feel so much better. Crisper, stronger mid range and sounds brilliant! Leo Vince decat is the way to go IMHO. Has in line baffle and is the best pipe shape (according to CJS).
But if you really want the bike to run perfectly have the remap done. CJS did mine and Chris spends a lot of time filling in holes in the fuelling map. Now the fuelling at any revs is perfect. Goodbye low down fluffiness and hesitancy. Hello perfect town manners and huge low down and mid range grunt. i wasn't looking for any extra power but as a consequence of the remap rear wheel power went up from 143 to 151 BHP.
The only problem is my 2012 S now runs so well that it makes the DVT seem a bit bland and peaky with a lack of mid range. Having much trouble justifying buying a new one.

  3. Tbh the DvT is bland compared to a non mapped and fully stock my14 bike

  4. CJS custom map, LV Decat pipe with standard pipes.....best thing I did on my 13 plate multi!!

  5. Nelly also does mapping so worth considering him....well at least i think he does.... @nelly

    Fancy chipping in? :)

  6. Well I have gone de-cat - unfortunately with a Danmoto. It fits reasonably well, apart from the exit to silencer pipe, which points the cheapo silencer too close to the back wheel. So now I have to find an engineer welder who can modify it for me. Serves me right I suppose.
I have put the original silencer on and it does make a nice noise, will be able to decide if it's too noisy after a spin out tomorrow.

  7. My 2013 Pikes Peak with Leo Vince de cat is booked in with CJS for the re map next month- looking forward to seeing how better it rides afterwards

  8. I can assure you, its too noisy! Lol

  9. I put a mivv on mine 3 weeks after buying the bike. I fitted it with out the noise stranglers in the down pipes my dealer said after I've fitted it they will check the error log for any mixture alerts but it was fine.
Check out the text in the red box.

  10. Yep way too noisy. So I need to either baffle the original exhaust, get the Danmoto pipe modified so I can fit the silencer I bought, or go and boil my head.

  11. To be fair mine was a bit too loud, it had a kind of sharp rasp to it so I made my own baffle out of some of this 38mm 1.5” x 20” (500mm) Exhaust Repair Pipe Perforated Tube Stainless Steel T304 | eBay?
I cut it to the right length then crimped on end and welded the other end to the removable insert in the end of the can.
It sounds much deeper now and as a bubble bonus in sport mode accelerating hard the front wheel lifts in the first 3 gears much higher than it did before so I'm assuming it's altered my power curve for the better.

  12. Option 2 or I know some have added baffles to the pipe.

  13. Thanks for your input, I have found a local welder who is going to modify the danmoto for me.
    Cheers
    Nick
