899 Track 899

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Ballbagracer, Jul 28, 2016.

  1. I considered using my 899 for the track but when I asked the guys at snetterton about noise levels (I have termis fitted) they said it would fail! maybe even as high as 108/109!!
Any of you guys tracking your 899's any advice would appreciated ;-)

  2. As above mate, however in a nut shell my bike blows 106/107db's on the standard system and they let me run.

They don't let bikes with aftermarket systems or cans out if they are over the limit though.

The joke of it is that the termis are actually quieter than standard as well!

  3. People keep claiming this, but the facts (reported in the thread above, and witnessed by me at noise testing because I go and get nosey with the other Panigale results) suggest standard is around 103-105dB, Termi with baffles is 105-107bB, Termi without baffles is 107bB+.

It isn't an exact science, but with standard cans, warmed up nicely, making sure you stay just below the revs required, you should be fine at most places other than Castle Combe.

  4. at croft yesterday my 959 was 98db

there was a 1299 with akrapovic and it passed noise test and an 899 with terms and it passed too

croft was 102db and very strict and they had no problems

  5. What rpm were those at? Seem very low readings....

  6. They are being very 'friendly'. I started the other thread to get some solid figures but probably best to not advertise these ones!

To the OP - I think I just commented to your on facebook , you should be fine at Donnington. They have a woman who deals with the noise who is very good.

  7. I'm being safe and doing the Donington 108 db trackday in August.would have Rather have gone to Silverstone as only 10 miles away from me but at 102db cant be sure my Akras will pass.

  8. Donnington didn't even check on the noisy day.

Isn't the Silverstone limit the ride-by limit?

  9. Other than racing I cant remember ever being tested at silverstone

  10. Never been static tested a Silverstone.

  11. Silverstone is ride-by so you should have no problem

  12. cheers for the info. its just so annoying how vague the noise problem is with the 1299 with akras is. I know the forum have gone on about this time and time again but there seems no answer. to be honest my view is if I bought the bike with akras from new from the dealer it should be noise road legal ( haha) and so pass all the track day noise tests. its just stupid.

  13. Really, buying a 'not for road use' can from a dealer magically makes it 'legal for road use'

  14. But surely at a maximum speed of 70 mph the noise shouldn't be an issue on the road :D

  15. went to the Donington Trackday the Bike was a dream. went to the edge of the tyres with no probs at all but ive got to admit I did have the Rider aids on to help as was my first ever Trackday.
only problem was my left toe slider which I scraped on the floor turning in a few to many times at the last hairpin in the end it fell off.
Great day hopefully will go again and push even more speed into the corners as I know the Bike could handle a lot more than I asked from it.
