Always use Calsports for chain and sprockets. Usually the cheapest around, been using them for years. Even when I looked for ASV levers they were the cheapest I could find.
Worth googling if the hub is same as 916 (848 is) or 1098 (multi is) as they will likley be more available under those models
On the Renthal site they do 3 types of carrier, one 5 hole and two 6 hole.. As long as it's a 5 hole I should be OK Cheers Bradders
I've just ordered a set of Renthal sprockets and chain from B&C Express - will be delivered tomorrow.
Guys/gals At the risk of sounding sanctimonious - you're debating a few quid, chain measurements, etc. to save a catastrophic failure! Wait until a chain snaps and hits your boot and wreaks havoc on your bike! Just spend a few quid and sort it, eh?!?!?!?! ...after posting the above, just noticed this.... http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/crankcase-repair.45928/ L
Sadly some of us can't go...Oh I need a new chain and sprockets, £200, yeah fuck it I'll have it Saving a few quid....I've seen the difference in price of around £80- £100 on different sets so was asking advice If all the replies to any queries would be is buy one, sell it, yeah it's knackered this forum would be a poor place to be I was asking for facts if anyone had experience of any types were good/bad Perhaps I should just buy the most expensive one then post some big long ramblings of how I'm unsure I got the right one ? ;D
Yeah - well thats the reason i mentioned the supersprox and the quick change hub....fuck off expensive for the hub and the rear sproket (comes to about 240) then the chain and the front sprocket on top of that...but then...after that chain and sprocket changes should be cheaper each time....as bradders said, depends on how long youre keeping it. For any of my bikes i would be expecting to pay a bare minimum of 150 ish for a chain set....thats my guess as ive not actually had to buy one yet!
I only ever paid around £150 for any of my bikes... It's when you first look and first see them for about £250+ you think hang on...surely there is some of just as good quality for less....
May be wrong, but I think @cookster had these on his 748. Look at this on eBay Chain Sprocket kit & Carrier 15/42 for Ducati Hypermotard 1100 S | eBay
@Cream_Revenge I was looking at a set from the same place but with an EK chain instead of SSS... The thread was to see if anyone had experience of those chains etc.
Izumi O-Ring Motorcycle Chain 525 SDC x 100 Ducati 916 Monster S4 01-03 | eBay Im thinking of using this on my 999 next time. Good quality and good price. O rings might cost a hp or 2 but I wont miss that.
Hey Jody I'm really sorry I seem to have caused offence; that was my last intention. I had a chain snap once and it made a right mess of the bike and me. Forgive me if my words weren't appropriate. L
No worries mate... Apologies if my reply was a bit childish I AM changing my chain/sprockets but as comfy said the set he saw/bought was around £300 I just wanted to know if the sets I was looking at were OK as I didn't want cheese sprockets and a rubber band chain If the general consensus is that only the £300 sets are any good then that's what I will have to get and lump it ha ha And I'm also trying to find a case saver for mine after reading about them on here...
