Whatever happened to Longpigs?, one terrific album and they dissapeared. I could list soul song after soul song. I'm in a Millie Jackson phase atm. She also does House for Sale, as do a few other artsits. Great track. (If Loving You is Wrong) by Miss Jackson is a great track, if a tad grubby. But it was the 70's after all. Dirty girl.
So many great bands did not get the air time they deserved. Jet, for some reason djs said copied acdc. Wtf. Idiots. Loads of good origonal music and nothing like acdc, love acdc by the way but... Listen to ZZ Top, Jesus just left Chicago. = Night Prowler or Overdose... Thats the great thing though, you can probably go back and back for the influences
I recommend she listen to the entire album - Whats Going On - Marvin Gaye. Its like Sgt pepper or white album. you need to listen to it as a whole. A good generic Northern Soul Album is always a good start too. Theyll generally have the classic stompers. Curtis Mayfield/The Impressions is a good start too, oh or my favourite Jackie Wilson - Because of You or The Who Who song. My favourite Northern Soul track = Gone with the Wind is my Love - Rita and the Tiaras. The Dore Strings do a great instrumental of it too. That song gets my talcum out.
Museum Mile - Geneva Night Owl - Gerry Rafferty Happiness - Goldfrapp The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot Feel Good Inc - Gorillaz Down The Dog - Gryphon Lady Rain - Hall and Oates Casino Royale - Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Ride A Nightmare - Horslips Don't You Want Me - Human League Wow, only as far as the H's! Special mention for the Gordon Lightfoot track - it makes me blub. Proper burning eyes. It is based on a real event.
Under no circumstances should she listen to that goddamned Baby Shark do do dodododo...tune...aaarrrrrgggghhhh
Today, the best rock song is Won’t Get fooled Again, by the Who (not one of my favourite bands). As we seem to have drifted from the “iconic” tag, an assortment of not so regularly heard guitar rock songs: · Blowin’ free - Wishbone Ash · Big Jim Salter - Stone The Crows · Follow Me - Sharks · Natural Born Bugie - Humble Pie · Both Ends Burning - Roxy Music · Flying In The Reel - Lone Star · Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd · No More White Horses T2 · Roll Over Beethoven - Mountain · Folding Stars – Biffy Clyro As far as opera is concerned, I love watching it (only live, not on TV) and almost never listen to recordings. Why not just go? Tosca, Madam Butterfly and Il Trovatore are easy starters.
This has had some legs since I was last about! Some absolute corkers that ill have to dig out and revisit! Broken stones is a tune! Reminds me of other weller/jam stuff Down in the tube station at midnight. Man about town. To name but two, and any band with jam in the name must include pearl jam, Even flow Alive Jeremy Don't get me going again lol
Here are a few she might like. Thunder Velvet Revolver Shinedown Faith No More Dr Feelgood Buckcherry Airbourne Rammstein Drowning Pool Spear of Destiny
