well, to the big girl : when the 16,5" run out , all it takes will be another pair of wheels.. so no big harm done there... i'm very happy with the current tires ..and can't see Pirelli stopping production and tell all customers to throw away hundred of thousands of wheels.. .. but i won't be doing 16,5 on the 999 .. i'll use it mainly for wet riding so the stock will be fine to start off with .. the mag Marvics will be a backup should i arrive at places that ban the big girl for noise reasons or little mishaps like the one i had at Assen, where it was fond that a crappy connection on an internal fuel line in the carbon tank ruined the day as i did not have a spare bike with me... and perhaps the occasional honorary session ... i ve never been keen on non in house stuff on the bikes.. and frankly, i ve never felt the SD to intrude on the riding... as to BST ... i ve never fancied them either... don't kno why as a i am a selfadmitted Carbon fetishist... LOL ... perhaps too much of a good thing? can there be such a thing as carbon overdose in pimp land? i'd like to have a look at the nissin disks however.. tx
having had both..the reactive types are tons better imho they increase when they need to and you cant feel them when its not needed and are gas pressurised for consistency. revalve or refluid a stock ohlins and it wont stiffen if it gets fruity. they may be ohlins but imho they are still not upto much at all. hyperpro or matris rule.. but each to their own... if youve ever ridden on Blackstone tecs. you know what all the fuss is about
Yes my lap times to the shops were much improved I've had superbike forks on bikes, brembo monoblocs, 16.5" wheels, gpr, Ohlins linear, an do you know none were as good as the 08 blade on the road ( yes forks that were 15000 euros weren't any better than modded foreblade) My chips were notably warmer when coming back from the chippy on the blade
I had a bmw m3 once but you know it just wasnt as good as my diesel c3 at shopping either the way I could line that thing up for the apex of the parking bays was unreal
some beautiful detailing there Koen....stunning machine, and youre justifiably proud of it..one of the nicest 999's on the forum. Keep it sunny side up!
Have a poke around on my profile "old boy" there is a couple of images in the gallery I think. I have to agree ref the tyres thing, and yup lack of tyres would be a good excuse to buy new wheels I wonder if PVM might do a pretty wheel at some point??
