10 Days Blah Blah...tfto

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by bradders, Sep 8, 2014.

  1. I had haggis on Sunday night, very nice it was.

    That is all.:)

  2. It's funny how the people here who are most critical of Scottish self government are also often the same people who don't want to be ruled by Europe.

    POT KETTLE BLACK

    London "subsidy" £2600 per head
    Scotland "subsidy" £1200 per head

Subsidy in quotes as Scotland contributes £1800 per head above average. So its not subsidy.

    Factor in

Always being told we are scroungers
    Being the nuclear dump
    Tax test bed
    De industrialisation
    The McCrone Report
Oil finds in the Clyde being hushed up so Trident subs can keep using the Clyde
Constantly being referred to as nationalist, anti English......the other day Tessa Jowell, of the Labour Party called us "insurgents". A former labour minister called 2 million ordinary people insurgents. It is disgraceful.

No wonder people are none too happy.

From what I see and hear, The game is up. The polls are miles out.

I think it is so important that our friends south of the border understand it is not about you. Its about us. Please do not take offence, we love you dearly. So much so I am pretty sure you will get 15 points from us come Eurovision time.

  5. my weekend experience. rode down to kilmalcolm to meet up with some mates, first thing i noticed, all the way down to dunoon mostly yes sign's, crossed the ferry in to gourock (getting in to ship building country or whats left of it)mostly no sign's,
meet up with mates, my self (yes) big innes (no) two other mates are there, bruce from aylesbury and Stuart from edinbro. we made an agreement at the beginning not to get in to a referendum argument, like thats gonna happen.
Stuart couldn't hang out all night as he is an active yes campaigner but went on a bit to much telling me stuff i already knew, he used to own a large company specializing in banking internet security and has worked allover the world for leading banks and is alto aware who is pulling the government strings.
Bruce, ex army now in I.T is currently heading a team carrying out a revue of the English criminal system (an interesting fact he made regarding waist in the civil service, apparently if every one in the criminal justice system spent 5mins less a day on there phones checking out facebook and the likes we could save 11milloin pounds a year) if he had the vote he would vote no but was encouraged to hear his opinions, apparently this forum is not a good representation of opinion down south and the powers that be a bricking them self.
many heads are gonna roll, should there be a yes vote.
so where does that leave me? more pissed off with it all to be honest, cant wait for it to over.
what did give me giggle tho amongst all the no signs on the portglasgow duel carriageway was an old man easy in his eighty's running up and down waving his YES flag. superb.

  6. Did the haggis vote in favour of being eaten, or did you impose the recipe from , say, Westminster.....

  7. All I hope is that if it's Yes, then the ex-UK government does everything it can to help the fledgling country.
It's a bit like a divorce. An acrimonious one only makes everyone unhappy and doesn't really change the situation, whereas an amicable one lets everyone get on and lead their new lives smoothly. Also, you don't really want an acrimonious divorce if your ex is going to be living next do to you - for ever and ever.

And if it's No, then I hope the Scots will accept their own decision and pipe down about it, instead of harping on and on.

Whatever it is, we'll all get used to it - it's not like Scotland or England will cease to exist. They'll look pretty much as they did before the vote and the inhabitants will be the same.

  8. If history is anything to go by, then if/when Scotland declares independence, when the next King Richard (Kate is expecting afterall) is on the throne, England will invade again (It has history you see). Then the Scots will find a truly remarkable person to lampoon this fight for freedom, but who will sadly ultimately fail after being betrayed by those close to him. Then a few years down the line, they'll make a movie about it and hire an antipodean to bring the story to the masses

  10. Historically they have beaten the shite out of each other unless unified to attempt to beat the shite out of the English.
So it will go one of two ways, 1st they will start to beat the shite out of each other again whilst one side attempts to gain power over the other. 2 they will turn south and attempt to make England part of a greater Scotland .
Historically the scots have always been at the forefront of british military actions ( shock troops) and they will be tooled up with the nukes on the subs. And don't forget what they did in the Anglo afghan wars of the 19th century.

  12. Question:
Have the clans issued instructions to their members to vote in a particular way?
If they haven't, I would find this disappointing. What's the point of a clan if the clan chief doesn't wield a bit of power when it's needed, eh? Otherwise it's just a fuzzy social club - a bit like this forum.

  13. Not a hope. This will turn out to have been just Round One. Look at Quebec.

  14. If and it's a big if the vote is no, the chance of salmond sturgeon et al keeping their traps shut is unlikely.
No doubt it will be blamed on the English , and not democracy in action.
If it's a yes the fish twins will be unbearable.
If subsequently it goes pear shaped again it won't be their fault but again ours.

  15. Also Ireland with the Lisbon Treaty

  16. just for balance i don't think it will be blamed on the English, just the powers that be. you must stop thinking this way.

  17. Sorry Yoda :)
By the English I make an assumption of the English political establishment

  18. Looks like it is dividing Scotland. Not like politics to divide nations! when they vote No, which they will, I hope they just accept London rule and get on with it. It is apparent that London is certainly concerned about a Yes vote. London would never invade to protect their oil interests, would they? A few RN ships will secure the oil and other natural resource potential. London would need to be quick otherwise the yanks will be in there claiming War on Terror and how the Scottish Muslim community have turned hardline and fanatical and is a breeding ground for terrorists.
Scotland have an opportunity here, I think most of the healthiest economies live outside the waste of space EU.
Anyway, all this chat will be irreverent when they vote No.
