I'm interested to know how they are going to survive once the oil money has ran out? Invite Donald trump in to build more golf courses? Open a Scottish theme park for the tourists? Certainly won't be coming for the weather. Then how are they going to pay for the health costs of everyone having heart attacks from the deep fried mars bars, whiskey and haggis? Alternatively we refuse to export buckfast that'll show em we mean business.
I can't believe how such a serious issue is being treated in such a frivolous way. Yes or No, things will never be the same again with massive implications for both sides of the border.

a couple of questions on radio today.......who will pay all the pensions? what about the 11000 members of the armed forces forces living in Scotland ?( will the Scottish regiments be disbanded ? ) there are lots of implications. all I know is over here in norn iron lots of people have gave their lives ( family and friends )to stay in the union. even though I hate to say it ,others have died to try and split the union......

Mate vote for it and then if I'm wrong I will apologise and be incredibly contrite. I love Scotland I love the scots I even married a scot. But I cannot be the only one to notice the 'emperors new clothes'. Salmond is no better than Blair as Rt says he wants to be remembered as the man who got you independence from the awful English instead I suspect he will be remembered as the man who ruined Scotland .
Fortunately, I'm not a lover of Alex Salmond....and Independence isn't about him. I suspect he may not even be our next FM. Everyone has their own reasons for or against. I just have a problem from either end when people don't do their homework and am particularly bored of the way that we all "hate the English / haggis munching/ whisky drinking blah blah blah.... " really we're not... I've made a decision based on what I think is best for me and my family first and everyone and everything else second. I'm not going to post lots of links to pro Indy stuff, there's more than enough out there for people to come to their own conclusions...
So all the Scots, that Salmond negotiated would not be able to vote, that are working in England. What will their status be once Scotland is out of the EU? (and will stay out due to Spain). Will they have to apply for work permits, right to remain.....seems like they get the worst outcome.; A change in their nationality without even getting to vote on it! My father was Scottish but spent most of his life elsewhere and was always of the opinion that the Scots always felt they were owed something and had too many chips on their shoulders. It looks like they may now have a chance to fly free.....could be a heavy, messy landing? On a serious note, I think it will be very sad if Scotland leaves. I have though been so disappointed in the very aggressive, anti-English sentiment, so maybe it is for the best in the long run.
Emperor's new clothes is right but Salmond may be remembered not as the man who ruined Scotland but as the man who ruined the UK.
there is one thing most on here agree on it's time for change. this will bring about change one way or another, it's a real bumer that some feel it's still about not liking each other, it's the only part of the proses i dislike. it's scary but time.
Seriously, let the, have it. It will cost us less than the alternative, which is more power, read more money, flowing north from south, more benefits and social responsibility being paid for by us. Let em drown if they want, hope they don't, be a shame but all the same let em go
if it's any consolation i hope you don't drown also if it does happen it will only be ours and your parliaments that will let it down and ultimately make it fail, beleave it or not we have what you want and vise versa. there's a lot of negotiation to be had no reason why it cant work. unless you just enjoy coming on here off an evening moaning about the currant system, i did once now i am just sick off it. and yes just for the record there is some anti English motives out there but please don't tar us all with the same brush.
