I was brought up in Peterborough, left there as soon as I could, aged 18. I’ll be going back there at the weekend to see my mum and father-in-law. People tell me not to go into the town centre as it’s not a nice place to go. Dunno, haven’t been for years. The villages around there are nice and Stamford was voted one of the best places in the country to live is just up the road. Have you ever been to Swindon though? Now THAT is an awful place. Having said all that, there’s nothing anywhere that has the knife crime and bike theft that London has.
And you can still take your longbow to a Scotsman within range of the City wall. Apparently. Or something like that
I’d say Cumbernauld and Glenrothes beats the brock north of the border. Christ, I remember those two towns. And not in a good way...
tbh everywhere’s got its shitholes. Down here we’ve got Sandbanks, a spit of sand with £10m houses occupied by footballers or empty 2nd/3rd homes, then in stark contrast you can cycle along the prom and arrive at Boscombe! An area flooded with 1000’s bedsits owned by an ex dodgy car dealer and now a dodgy landlord, renting to the DHSS and advertises in northern gazettes saying “why not claim your dole in sunny Bournemouth sat on the beach?” That and the council opening ex con rehab drop in centres taking in the country’s drugged up ex cons! A lovely part of town.
Christ I'd forgotten Glenrothes , every time I traypse up there from Edi to either see a easy lay or go Knock the turn off genuinely makes me shiver.
Nout wrong with Boscombe mate, not far from good old Hamworthy. I genuinely visit once a year in the summer it's a right laugh lol
