1098 1098 hid lights problems

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by drtcmm, Mar 13, 2014.

  1. That's how they are, the two different types of bulbs separate. I put my running light bulbs in and they both worked straight away, no need to reverse any polarities.

I think I am going to order the 6k bulbs for the headlamps, seems to be somewhere in the middle. Any brighter and the colour temp changes towards more blue.

  2. Hi Pavey

If going 55W HID I'd go 5 or 6K color temp no higher, the stronger wattage tends to wash out the slight blue it depends what your looking for. If going 35W I'd stick to 4 or 5K color temp.

I believe just below 4K is true daylight and will give you the brightest light but no blue, if you want a touch of blue go 5 or 6 depending on the wattage.

Like you say higher color temp really lowers lumens and makes the bulbs very blue turning to purple at very high color temps.

Mine are 55W 6K temp as I recall.

  3. DRCCMM did you get your HID's sorted? I'm experiencing the same issue.

  4. I fitted mine today, looks great once they are done. Easy to fit too, a great kit.

I actually binned off the full beam so now have two leds of the same brightness, but no flasher (i suppose i could turn the full beam on and off quickly to flash).

Where've people been mounting the ballasts? I went for the underside of the front fairing, around the magnesium coloured arms that hold said fairing.

Do i need full beam for the mot? Most probably...
