I wonder if thats as much a characteristic as the throttle...everything i hear is they have an incredibly aggressive power delivery where the 1198 was less so but more progressive. Sort the slack, try it then, as the QA may be a step too far til you learn how different it is
You can stop the misting completely with an anti fog coating on the inside of the clear plastic on the clocks. The downside is you have to do it at least once a year. Not a problem for me as my bike gets a winter strip every year but a pain in the rear if not. I did try silica gel and extra holes drilled to vent it but it still misted to a point. The Gen3 version of the display is deeper and fixes the issue but you would need to find a casing from a late 1198 to get that. Ducati uk have some spare Gen 3 covers but refuse to supply them (so my dealer told me) They r for warranty issues only.
With the quick action throttles from the R1/R6 be aware that if you have to re-code your bike using the throtle it probably will not reconise the quick throttle action and therefore you will not be able to re-code. So keep the old one handy, just in case, I am looking to do this on my 749 also.
? recode? The R1 throttle tube just removes the slack and opens the throttle with one twist. Ive done it to mine with zero issues. I also rode it prior to resetting my TPS all round France without issues. Ive now reset my TPS and there are threads here about this if you search. especially ones by ChrisW. Please explain recode in case ive missed something and need to do something else. Ta.
I have not had to do this myself, however this is what i have been told to be aware of if i get a R6 throttle tube, from what i understand it is when you are dealing with parts of the immobiliser, re-programming keys, overriding ECU etc, However i beleive some of this can be completed with the red key, if you need to enter the code from the card then the prodedure is "twisting the throttle" a certain amout of times to enter the code in a sequence. The throttle opens too quickly and it can not read this action. With out reading the manual I am not sure how important this is, but given that so many people do this I am not sure it's not a major issue.
Not sure about later models, I know on 03/04 794s, for example if you dont have the red key/card there is a procedure to re code the euc using the throttle. But most, i beleive is done through the red key, if you have to use the throttle then the ecu struggles to read the quicker throttle action. As mention before the twist/travel is shorter and the ecu will not pick this up correctly. Don't think this will be a big issue and being a five minute job would be simple to swap back over to standard for the sake of reprogramming.
No red keys on 1098/1198/848 Bypass of immob is done using switch on left hand controls that toggles through the display functions from memory.
re the misting clocks, they all do it I think its so you cant see the numbers and panic. actually ducati corse do the mist only in red
youve been 'ad then mate. when they said Foggy used to ride for Ducati, this isnt what i meant... Anyway, ive got a Tricolore, so i think its that special edition mist..yours, should be Scottish mist bootsy me old tater...
Its the lights on my 916 that mists. The left one. Same bloody one on my 1198 too. So I put those little silicon packets in em. Small ones. Put some in yer clocks. Just an idea like skipmeoldmatejacksparracockneyrhymingslangbollocks
Bella has a misty eye...i assumed it was coz she missed me..she also has a bit of misty temp gauge...what are these silicon packets of which you speak, me old haggishshagginginerpubedbagpipespanker??
Has one never bought and unpacked ones shoes by oneself? Or other miscellaneous goods, mobile phones etc. These little sachets that accompany them within the packaging. They are most useful. Ask your Batman.
oh, silica gel....do you mean to tell me that youve a fkn paper sachet rattling around in your headlamp/display??
Yes you cant see em. Don't knock it, it works. Choose especially small ones. Naturally. However i felt I should explain that to you.
