Why not get an 848evo, ive had a couple of 1098s , but , having ridden an 848 evo it was smoother and sharper and probably the better bike. Dont rule it out its a real gem, and its got plenty of punch, i doubt you would get bored.
I've never owned either so probably not the best to comment, but i have ridden both. 1098 was seriously fast, but could be ridden so where the 1198 always seemed to be a fight, which i know it would win one day. The TC on the 1198 is a useful safety net however but the 1098 i didn't feel need it, which is why i guess only the top spec R had it, along with 1198ccs remember.
