Well it feels like Christmas here!! The battery seems to have worked started her up and she’s purring perfectly
I’d say your old battery was dead, or at least had a dead cell or 2 so couldn’t hold the charge or hold enough juice to power her up even when ‘fully charged’. I’m glad she’s running now. Keep this battery fully charged either leave the Optimate on it until you start to use the bike regularly again or connect it up once a week over the winter at least.
I have one of these babies... should I plug that in every eve or only use it now and again?? Don’t know if it’s good or bad for a battery
Yup so do I. It’s an optimate so it automatically stops trying to charge when it’s done. Can’t see how it can harm the battery. I have noticed though that my 1098 still doesn’t like not actually been used. It splutters a bit before starting if it’s not been run for a couple of weeks.
I just have the one Optimate 4 so switch it between the 3 bikes. @exuppower as long as the Oxford one does what it should, ie optimise and not continually charge, you’ll be grand leaving it on all the time. Oxford are usually good vfm products but I have no direct experience of that product, maybe someone else does?
haha I’ve both and know nothing about either of em anyways ever since I got the bike going I’m appreciating and driving it all the more... driving it around goodo the last two days!
