Yes, of course. I've had it from new, so I've done nearly 7000 miles on it!! I love the bike, it's awesome.....shame for it to just sit in the garage!!
It’s pretty hard to believe anyone would break one given the potential value of a genuine bike. The seller has the complete fairing set - undamaged - along with plenty of other parts from the same bike. I guess a catastrophic engine failure might cause someone to break one, but stolen and stripped seems a possibility. However, surely given how few were ever registered in the uk it would be difficult to ‘fence’ these parts if one had been reported stolen? https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=✓&q=Ducati+1098r+bayliss Plus - wow there really aren’t many of these are there? Definitely one for the the Volcano lair GLWS
Looks like 2 imports registered in 2019 and none for the previous 7 years - this is wrong as I imported one last year and registered it in 2018. 4 for sale at the moment is quite odd
Some were just treat like standard Rs and ended up as race bikes. Saw a couple like that while living in Sweden.
Thanks!! Wow....I didn't know mine was one of only two registered in 2011.......this one had stood un-registered for two years......I bought it having written my original one off when a car pulled out in front of me!!
A mate of mine wrote one off too around 2010/11. I took mine abroad with me in 2012/13. Just brought it back to UK a couple of months ago. Not on a UK reg yet.
The one I bought won the Norwegian Superbike Championship in 2010 https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/i-just-bought-a-ducati.57477/
https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/about Given the level of incompetence demonstrated by the DVLA and the difficulty of keeping a database that size accurate it’s not surprising things aren’t completely accurate. Plus - looking at your original thread you had a fair bit of trouble!
Hi all - haven't been on here in a while - hope you are all well. Winter is late here in Minnesota but still too cold to ride. I had not seen that "how many are left" search function for DVLA before. I entered 1198R and it states only 1 in the country. I think there must be at least a couple more than that? I know there is one on the Forum in UK and at least one at one of the high priced used car dealers
Sorry, my mistake. The Bike Specialists in Sheffield have 1098Rs in stock. I thought i remembered they had an 1198R. Must be the Alzheimers kicking in... They have 3 Bayliss right now, but as usual, they are not scared of asking...
Are you sure you are looking at it right? The 1198 R Corse shows as 4 being originally registered in 2010 and in Q2 2019 1 was taxed and 3 registered as SORN so looks like they are all still around. Still - that’s pretty fecking rare! Where the extra one came from in 2016 I don’t know but it seems to have dematerialised again!
Livefast, the tab on your post #45 is the registrations tab which only relates what was registered in each quarter of the years listed. The full table shows 38 or so bikes taxed or SORN in Q2 of 2019 from a total of 43 registrations at the high point in 4th qtr of reg year 2010 (ie June to Aug 2010), they are still rare however but no where near as rare as the 1198 R corse. The attrition rate is remarkably low and reflects a bunch of bikes that are almost certainly spending most of their time not being ridden Exige, the registrations relate to the plate letters so if your 2018 bike was late CY2018 registered it should be one of the two registered in 2019
