1098 1098r - My Little Story...

  1. I've personally never been a one for tinted screens myself.

I liked the graduated tint of the Puig at the bottom of the screen, but they were expensive for what they were and had "Desmo" written on them, which looks naff.

    PUIG "Race" Windscreen : Clear

Hence trying the cheaper option. The fit was also spot on, no modding or drilling required, it fits perfectly around the nose cone and is uniform on both sides. Incredible for the price.

  2. Bit distorted due to being taken close up with the phone - hopefully tells you what you need...

  5. Nice, looks great. Is that the Beater tank on there, never noticed the breather before on a 1098r? Is it wider or taller than standard, or both?

It looks much better without wing mirrors too.

  6. All this talk of 1098R's is beginning to sway me away from a Pani .... agh

  7. Yes it's a Beater tank - same width and height - not sure where it hides it's extra volume having had a quick measure :confuse:

  8. Why buy a Pani that will depreciate, when these will appreciate - just ask yourself that question and then decide :D

  10. Did the one at DMC sell at £17k :Wideyed:

  11. They reduced it to £16495 and it was removed from sale a few days later so it might just have temped someone.

  12. Beater is aluminium, OE is a resin that is in places about 6 or 7mm thick. Given the overal size of the tank, the difference in thickness certainly will be a significant contribution of the extra 7 litres. Andy

  14. First ride out planned this morning - fired it up in the back garden, into gear for a gentle pootle round the front of the house in jeans and t-shirt prior to getting togged up. Went about 5 yards then heard a lound mettalic twang and seemed to go onto one pot and stopped within a couple of seconds :Wideyed:

Can't believe the expectation I had was stopped so abruptly :Arghh:

Will mail Moto Rapido this morning and see what they say...
